Teaching and Indispensable!,
By ZAZA SIAMASHVILI "Reaganesque Republican" (Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Biography - Ronald Reagan: The Many Lives [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am from Tbilisi, Georgia and was one of the first who bought the title in Washington, DC! I wonder that this title still needs some review, but I am doing this with a great pleasure. The movie is made according to Lou Cannon, who is President Reagan's biographer and Mr. Cannon wrote also a great book about Reagan and his many sides. The movie will tell and disclose many bhidden aspects of Reagan's service to his beloved nation and you will see how brave he was while he fought and struggled for the peace around the world. He struggled and fought for the entrapped and enslaved nations within the Warsaw Bloc and the Evil Empire. I would call President Reagan as the Century Leader! Get the title while it is still available online!

Superficial treatment of the man and the president,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Biography - Ronald Reagan: The Many Lives [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Given the length of his life and the many things that he did up through his presidency, it is impossible for a 50 minute tape to do anything but a quick pass over of the life of Ronald Reagan. In the opening, narrator Peter Graves claims that the treatment of the life of Reagan will be politically neutral and that policy is followed very well. However, some of the more significant aspects of his presidency, such as the American military action in Lebanon and the complexities of the Iran Contra scandal receive nothing more than a slight mention.
Clips from his speeches are shown where he bashes the government in action and the amount of money it collects and spends, yet there is little about the dramatic increase in the federal deficit during his presidency. There is also no mention of how many times taxes were raised under Reagan. The lack of depth in the coverage of his presidency makes the discussion of his childhood and his life as an actor the most interesting part of the tape. |
