From its inception, this NSF-sponsored learning system was hailed as a welcome departure from traditional approaches, both in terms of organization and delivery of content. BioInquiry tells the story of the process of science, and so is organized to trace scientists' journey to biological understanding, beginning with Darwin and evolution. The Third Edition's unique integration of multimedia - developed in tandem with the text and designed to provide additional dimension to key topics - is now seamlessly housed in the powerful engine of Egrade Plus. The result is an integrated product that presents a more realistic approach to what non-science majors need to be informed citizens and scientifically literate consumers of information.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Experience the story of biological understanding

Like any good tale, the excitement is in how the story unfolds-in the process of discovering how the situation is resolved, in the twists and turns of the plot, and in the personalities of its main characters. The same holds true for biology. That's why Nancy Pruitt and Larry Underwood's new Third Edition of BioInquiry is specifically designed to engage students in the story of biological understanding. This NSF-sponsored text and media package takes a discovery approach in which students lear5n about biology in the same timeline in which scientists have come to understand biology.

From the prepublication reviews:

"The [website] for the student, in its latest inception, is quite brilliant." - KAREN OCORR, University of Michigan

"I very much liked that the book emphasized the process of science..." - JOHN PETERS, College of Charleston

"The authors use evolution as a unifying theme in the book. This is wonderful." - BRAM MIDDELORP, Minneapolis Community and Technical College

1.0 out of 5 stars You have got to be kidding, Don't buy from them., August 1, 2011

I bought this product new, it arrived not only used but with a previous invoice inside the book. How much more obvious can someone make it to say we are going to screw you over real good. I send them a nice note and explain that the book is not only
used but has some wear on it and would they refund me 20.00 off the price I paid. I paid 69. and some change for the book. They never even answered my email. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN. I filed a complaint with amazon about them.

3.0 out of 5 stars BioInquiry Textbook, May 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bioinquiry: Making Connections in Biology, 3rd Edition (Paperback)
The text did arrive in a timely manner and it was wrapped in plastic. The product was supposed to be new, but the outside of the book was scuffed up and some of the pages were bent, along with the cover of the book. The book could have been in better condition for one that is new. In spite of this, the product was in pretty decent shape and I would probably order from this supplier again.
