After trying many other detergents on my diapers, I love this one! I used to have to strip my diapers monthly because of detergent buildup, and now I strip them quarterly, if that. It's really great stuff for diapers (I use BumGenius). I use it for my clothes, too, but I prefer the Bi-O-Kleen All Temperature Laundry Powder with Grapefruit Seed and Orange Peel Extract 5lb because it smells really good yet doesn't irritate my skin. But for diapers, the free & clear is unbeatable, in my opinion.

I first purchased this to use for the baby's laundry and diapers, then I started using it for the rest of the family. I've been really happy with the results. The baby is 10 months old now and I still have about a third of the box left. We are a family of 5 and do laundry all the time. It is the bottomless box of detergent! It is so concentrated that I only use about a third of what they recommend and our laundry comes out clean and fresh smelling. By the way, I have an old top loading machine, not an HE.

I noticed one reviewer said their laundry still smelled dirty after washing with it. Some synthetic fabrics will hold odors regardless of the detergent, but may not be noticeable because of the scent. This has no fragrance to cover these odors, and has not been a problem with us. I can tell you of the few items that have held a slight odor after washing, it is not noticable unless you get way too "up close and personal". I can happily report that socks, underwear, and diapers come out clean and smelling fresh with this product.

As with any detergent, I still pre-treat heavy dirt/stains. At first I thought biokleen was a little more expensive, but after seeing how long it lasts and how little is needed, it's the most affordable detergent out there.

This clothes soap works! The regular biokleen Laundry Powder also works but the very light grapefruity smell made me feel sick-I am very sensitive to perfumes. The light smell of the powder was not evident in the washed clothes-I just didn't like feeling dizzy every time I did the wash!
Biokleen Free & Clear Laundry Powder has NO SMELL WHATSOEVER! It cleans excellently. Has no problem dissolving in cold water. I like to use Oxo-Brite (also sold by Amazon) with the Biokleen for white and light colored items.
The cost is less than 10 cents a load for a HE washing machine. My supermarket sells only liquid HE compatable at a cost of almost50 cents a load!!
This soap can be used with ANY washing machine-regular top loading machines just use slightly more than a HE.
Since Amazon wants to ship four 10 lb boxes at a time you won't need to buy clothes soap for a LONG time-one less thing to keep track of. I wrapped the three boxes I'm not using right now in heavy weight plastic and taped the seams with packing tape and put them on shelves in my basement. Or, after seeing how well it cleans your clothes, give or sell for the cost the other boxes to friends and family members: whatever they are using right now is guaranteed to cost more. They will thank you for helping them keep expenses down. Would be a great gift for a newborn. Its extremely unlikely that this soap would give baby rashes, etc.
