Format: DVD-ROM
I have taken 5 of The Teaching Company's courses, several on line courses, and hold a couple of degrees. And Professor King is probably one of the most effective instructors I have ever come across. She knows her subject, is well organized, has a clear pleasant voice and is comfortable in front of the camera. She holds your attention with no apparent effort and it is easy to follow her reasoning. Also, important to me, she has no off-putting mannerisms to distract or annoy me.

Most important, and I don't know how she does it, I find that, when the course is over, I still have a good memory and grasp of the subject. (With some instructors, what I mostly remember is the teacher, not the subject.). To be clear, yet self effacing is, I believe, a great gift.

The course covers a great deal of ground with out confusion or any apparent hurry.

Professor Barbara J. King excellent and is very easy to listen to, however the age of the content is dated. There have been significant discoveries, such as those specific to human genome, since these excellent lectures. So it is that Time and achievement marches on. I recommend "The Rise of Humans: Great Scientific Debates" as a more timely understand as of this review. Copyright on these lectures is 2002 (The Great Courses)
