This review is from: Biology 2E: Search For Order In Complexity (Misc Homeschool) (Hardcover)
This science book is a very attractive book with a lot of helpful pictures, drawings and charts. There is a lot of vocabulary in the text, yet it is written in a very user friendly manner. I would recommend this textbook to others.

A biology text is no place for the evolution vs creation argument,

This review is from: Biology 2E: Search For Order In Complexity (Misc Homeschool) (Hardcover)
I bought this book to review some basic biology and to catch up on new discoveries over the last 30 years brought to the attention of high school readers. I didn't check the publisher beforehand, and only realized it was a Christian publishing house after the purchase. Then, I wanted to see how this text would deal with biology from a Christian perspective. I found it irritating.
It presents the basics of biology as other biology texts I've read, but it sprinkles too often the evolution vs creation argument within it. Albeit the argument is sprinkled, the text is clearly trying to position the Christian viewpoint of creationism by repeatedly stating certain evolutionary ideas are not provable with the scientific method, and the fossil record does not support the particular specific examples it cites. I find it absurd, even hypocritical, that a faith-based system would try to debunk an evolutionary biology hypothesis as unprovable by the scientific method. This book would have done its intended audience a greater service by attempting to prove their viewpoints with facts, rather than try to debunk with rhetoric. I would have enjoyed, even been challenged by such facts, but none are presented. I've given it 2 stars for the basic biology it does present.
