I used this book for preparation for the IB Biology Higher Level exam. This book was very useful for me. At first, when I flipped through the pages, I was expecting the book to only be a very terse and limited review of the IB syllabus. Also, upon looking at the format of the pages, I got the feeling that the book had more pictures than content. However, after finally starting to read the book, I realized why it is set up that way and why it is so helpful. The book is set up so that each page has "boxes" that each teach a separate concept. Furthermore, some of the boxes are driven via diagrams. I usually dislike diagrams, but this book's use of diagrams is an exception. The diagrams in this book bring the material to life (not necessarily because of the quality of the diagrams; more so because of the excellent annotations that go along with them) and make me truly understand the concepts. Visualizing the material is a great help. I would recommend this book to anyone who is taking an IB Biology course. From what I have seen (after comparing the book to the syllabus), the book covers absolutely everything on the syllabus, and every bit of every topic is given at least it's own box, if not a whole page.

I used this book in conjunction with HL IB Biology. The book presents the syllabus extremely well and helped myself and others learn challenging concepts quickly. The use of extensive diagrams is especially helpful, and I am aware of no other book that uses so many diagrams so well! My biology teacher kept copies of this book to help review just before exams at the end of the year, but didn't allow anyone to use it before then, because it made the homework too easy!
Make sure to order this book about 3 months before you need it. It took 2 months for the book to get to my address in the United states, from its original location in Austrailia.

A valuable asset for IB Biology students (BTW I love the Oxford study guides... they make IB exams so much easier... Without them I would have to read over 1000 of pages in those boring, dull textbooks and get a bad mark) Anyways my advice would be to buy these book. All of my friends who took IB Bio HL only studied from this book and most got 7 if not 6. All you have to do is just to cram in ~120 pages of stuff the day (or the week) before the exam. You will be surprise what this book can do for you on ur IB exam.

This book is amazing! Didn't pay attention in class thru the entire year, and when it came time for the final Exams, the IB SL and HL exams, I read the book for 2 consecutive nights before those exams, and got an outstanding 7 on my Biology Exams and recieved my IB Diploma!! This book enabled me to conquer my dreams, and now I am an outstanding and articulate student at on of the top universities in the world, Oxford University. This book will change your life forever.
