Great Book - EXACT SAME AS ISBN 9780077349967,
By
This review is from: Biology (Paperback)
My friend has the international edition (9780071221801) and I have the US (9780077349967). The page numbers, words, diagrams, pictures, questions, numbers for everything are the exact same (EXACT SAME) as the US edition. When you hold the books together, everything is copy and paste verbatim with the only exception of the cover and the ISBN number. I couldn't believe that the book I paid 180 USD for I could have had for 60 USD. BUY THE INTERNATIONAL EDITION!!! You will save around 120 USD and that money can be used towards your tuition. Best of luck!

Good, good,
This review is from: Biology (Hardcover)
I only bought this book because it was required for school, but it's actually pretty good. I find the descriptions and explanations to be very clear, and there are great pictures that really help one visualize what they're writing about. Also, it's well laid out and makes sense. Overall, for a textbook I like it a lot.

Great book for a General Biology class,

I needed this book for my General Biology class in college. I loved almost every thing about this book. There are a lot of great diagrams and pictures in this text book to help reinforce the text and to help people visualize things. The only problem I had with it was that every once and a while the authors made things hard to understand such as the Calvin Cycle, but I just reread the section and studied the pictures to gain a better understanding of the topic.

I am a biology major and I found this book to be very helpful. It had a lot of diagrams and pictures that are more helpful to me than textual information, since I am a visual learner. I am glad my professor chose this book.

Good textbook, although I would recommend "the cell" by Alberts et al.
This book is used in some colleges as a basic introduction to biology. Alberts et al. also has an introduction molecular biology textbook, which I still prefer to this one.

For a used book, the book was in near perfect condition. No highlights, nothing. The book was not fraying nor did it look bruised from anywhere. Overall, awesome.

One of the best majors text,
By
This review is from: Biology (Hardcover)
This book is probably one of the best ones that I have come across when compared to some other introductory majors biology texts. The authors have all published more advanced textbooks in their own field of study and some have also been involved in the publication of other introductory majors texts (e.g. Campbell's). The text is fairly easy to read, though it is very dense, and the excellent pictures help to clear up many concepts. The feature investigations also help students walk through scientific experiments, so instead of just learning what the result was, they learn more about how the scientific method was applied. We used this text in my introductory classes and I had Prof. Brooker as a teacher for a genetics and recommend this book.

I liked this textbook, it wasn't a difficult read by any means, I just wish they'd maybe split it up into two textbooks. It's 60 chapters, and as a biology student that has to lug this thing back and forth to classes every week, it's incredibly HEAVY.
