While biomimetrics has been defined as the imitation of biological processes, "Biomimetric Materials Chemistry" goes beyond this limited definition. The work demonstrates the diversity and multifaceted dimensions of biomimetric materials chemistry which is often only loosely associated with the direct imitation of natural processes. The book proves the field is united in the vision that the design and fabrication of new "unnatural" materials can be refined by a knowledge and understanding of related "natural" products and processes.
