Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Safety is paramount with this new tower heater from Bionaire. The 1500-watt heater not only brings warmth during frigid winter nights, but also prevents fire, burns, and overheating with a bevy of protective features. Ideal for medium-sized rooms, the heater provides a cost-effective alternative to a central heating system. It also finds use as a supplementary heat source in areas of activity while the household system runs low.

Simple to operate with one heat setting, the heater reduces the chance of overheating with a four-hour safety timer. If overheating should occur, the heater immediately arrests power and a back-up fuse is provided. The heater prevents accidents with a laser sensor system that cuts power when any object disrupts the laser's beam. The heater additionally combats fire and burns by shutting down when knocked over. To inform users of safety risks and precautions taken, an automatic LCD panel diagnoses and illuminates that information. The heater is preassembled prior to shipping and comes with a manual. As with all electrical appliances, read the manufacture guidelines with care prior to use. Bionaire covers this item with a limited two-year warranty. The tower heater measures 28-4/5 by 13-4/5 by 11-1/3 inches and weighs 9 pounds upon shipping.

2.0 out of 5 stars No heat control?, October 15, 2006

This review is from: Bionaire BSH3850-U SafetySmart Tower Heater (Kitchen)
I bought this heater for the safety features. When it tips, it turns off. When it overheats, it turns off. Great. But the Amazon description should have told me something: ONE HEAT SETTING. I have never seen a heater without at least a rudimentary thermostat. I can find no control on this one. So, when IT gets too hot, it turns off, but what about when *I* get too hot?? I have to get up and turn it off until I get cold. Then I have to get up and turn it on until I get too hot. This is an advance? It says it is smart, but it makes assumptions about how hot I want my room. It should ask ME what I want. Sorry, no deal.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother buying it, February 10, 2007
This review is from: Bionaire BSH3850-U SafetySmart Tower Heater (Kitchen)
When I bought it, the salesperson suggested a "replacement guarantee". Not one to go for the extra cost of $12 for a $69 item, I hestitated but decided to get the guarantee. Just as well, it stopped working within 3 weeks. The replacement I got last exactly 15 minutes. I told the store to take it back - guarantee and all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Returned within a week, July 24, 2007
This review is from: Bionaire BSH3850-U SafetySmart Tower Heater (Kitchen)
This heater kept deciding it was too hot. So it would safely turn off. After waiting the amount of time it tells you to wait plus an hour longer after it overheats, it decided it was still too hot and just ended up blowing out cool air. A complete waste of money.
