5.0 out of 5 stars Well made, quiet, and works well
I too suspect a serious hatchet job with ulterior motives from these other reviewers. I have 2 of these, almost 2 years now. I like them very much. They oscillate smoothly and its the only fan I can have near a TV that wont ruin the show with it's incessant cranking noise like a standard fan. I am ordering another one today on the Friday sale. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not so quiet after 3 months-SAVE THE PACKING SLIP for repair
A nice fan which is almost soundless when you first get it. I loved how I could leave it on at night in the bedroom and sleep without all that fan noise. However, after a few months, this fan develops a loud squeak which just won't go away. It's warranteed for years and Bionnaire is happy to replace the fan provided you have the ORIGINAL PACKING SLIP. It doesn't matter if...

I can't speak for other people but I'm sold. One other note. You can find tower fans from Bionaire in the discount stores but they are the cheapie model, this one is the higher quality one. Maybe the ones these other people are complaining about are the more squarish versions from BJs and Sams and the like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not noisy and Not cheap, August 13, 2004
This review is from: Bionaire BT45RC-UC Remote Control Tower Fan (Kitchen)
I bought two of these fans (but from QVC #V20623) and they are great! They are the exact same model (BT45RC/RI) but have the ionizer in them which freshens the air (same price including shipping). I got these to replace the regular stand type oscillating fan, which were definitely more noisy than the Bionaire. We live in So. Calif. where it gets quite hot in the summer. Using these fans greatly reduces our air conditioning usage. These fans also have a much nicer flow of air that you can feel whether sitting in a chair or lying on the floor watching TV, even at the lowest setting.

The fans are not cheaply made in my opinion. They seem quite sturdy and well made. They are a cinch to put together upon arrival, taking only 10 minutes from start to finish.

I definitely give a "thumbs up" to the Bionaire BT45RC/RI.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, versatile fan meets my expectations, August 17, 2005

This fan does what I expected. Tower design accommodates moving the fan to tight places. Oscillating action is a full 90 degrees which covers a good sized area. Remote control is very convenient, especially since you can remotely direct the air flow where you want it. I can do without the breeze function though. One star is removed because after about a month of use, I now occasionally notice some brown oil-like drippings on the foot stand and it appears to come from the bottom of the fan assembly. Not enough to notice but enough to be concerned about down the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with my new Bionaire Tower Fan, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Bionaire BT45RC-UC Remote Control Tower Fan (Kitchen)
After reading the reviews on this product I decided I would give it a try. I'm very pleased with my new Bionaire Tower Fan. The remote is a wonderful feature. Not sure why others are hearing noises, but I have not heard a thing. Mine is very quiet and blows very cool air. Like others have said before the breeze feature is a bit different. I mainly use the rotation feature which seems to circulate the air throughout the room very nicely. Oh another thing, I have a 3yr old boy and he has banged and knocked around on the fan. So that shows it can hold up to a toddlers beating. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Having a remote control and a timer for a fan are the two features that qualify this as a 'new class' of product for me. Having the timer shut the fan is very nice. Wish it would remember the previous timer setting and automatically shutoff. You have to set the timer each time you turn it on.

Quiet - but... makes crickety noise in oscillate + wind mode. I bought two units and both behaved the same - so it is a design thing.

Overall - reasonable value. I'm happy I got two.

However, after a few months, this fan develops a loud squeak which just won't go away. It's warranteed for years and Bionnaire is happy to replace the fan provided you have the ORIGINAL PACKING SLIP. It doesn't matter if you have a receipt from Amazon or can provide documentation from the credit card company. Without the packing slip you're out of luck. I'm going to give this product one more try because of it's initial quietness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our family has 4 of these, September 10, 2006

When we heard that the cost of electricity in our area (very hot and humid in the summer) would be rising 9%, I bought 2 of these at the beginning of the summer so that our air conditioning costs would not be outrageous. After using them a few days, I ordered 2 more. They keep the air circulating nicely. Our dogs like to sleep in front of them. They are much more quiet than our box fan. They fit in corners of rooms very nicely; space efficiency is very important in our household. Our total electric bill went down compared to last year, even with the rate increase, because we were able to set the thermostat a little higher and stay comfortable using these fans. I think that they will pay for themselves over time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rattletrap, August 31, 2006

(REAL NAME)
After reading a consumer survey of electric fans on Slate's online magazine which rated this fan highly, I thought I'd try one. It has a small footprint, the review said it was both powerful and quiet, and none of my conventional standing fans have a remote control. So I bought one, eagerly assembled it and plugged it in. My first disappointment came when I discovered that it isn't that powerful and the wind generated is very directional due to the slit-like shape of the grill. After being in use for only about three hours, the fan began making an intermittent rattling noise, like there was some plastic or metallic object touching the fan blades. The vertical design is inferior to the good old rotary fan and if my unit is typical, the quality of manufacturing is poor. Definitely NOT recommended.

This fan has far exceeded my expectations-it's super-quiet, easy to move around, and has numerous handy features. I've had it about a year-no problems. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fan that works well.
