Bionaire created this warm mist humidifier for all of these purposes and more. Designed to accommodate small- to medium- sized rooms, the quiet humidifier maintains comfortable humidity while preventing bacterial growth in the air.

Bionaire employed Teflon coating on the humidifier's heating element for durability over time. The water tank resists shattering and benefits from built-in microban protection to hinder bacteria from festering in the moist climate. The tank removes without difficulty for refilling or washing in a dishwasher. With a full tank of water, the humidifier emits mist for 24 hours. A fully integrated digital panel rests on top of the humidifier, complete with power and refill indicator lights. A variable humidistat allows users to monitor current humidity levels spanning from 25 to 65 percent. To obtain an ideal humidity level around 40 percent, the user selects high or low mist outputs with a push of a button. The humidifier evades overheating with triple thermostatic security. Should the humidifier overheat, power shuts off immediately to prevent further damage. The humidifier also shuts down when the water tank runs dry. To transport the lightweight appliance, a roomy carrying handle is provided. This humidifier requires no filter. As with any electrical device, read all manufacturer guidelines prior to use. This is a great humidifier that raised the humidity level in our bedroom from 30% to 60%. The selling point for me was "no filter to replace". However, every day you have to take it apart to fill it and it becomes very heavy carrying the loaded water to the base, then you are supposed to put the base in the dishwasher to clean the scum off and gently wipe off the heating element on another portion of the machine. You can't possibly clean the heating element, the chemicals from the water here in Vegas stick to that like concrete and the design around hard plastic, makes it impossible to work with. Would'nt purchase it again, would buy one with a filter. This daily cleaning is too much to ask.

Save yourself the hassle and just take a fifty dollar bill and throw it in the garbage, because that's really all you're doing by buying this piece of junk. I've had this thing for just over a month, and it doesn't work anymore. I've kept the device clean according to the instructions, and have removed the water scale from the reservoir, yet each time I fill the tank and turn it on, the low-water safety switch immediately shuts it off.
And good luck getting any product information from the Bionaire web site.

My last Bionaire was great so I tried this one out.

The water container is a strange shape and only fits in my kitchen sink when the faucet is pushed over to one side or in the bath tub, but for it's capacity it should be easier to fit in a sink in my opinion. The tank and the overall design seems kind of inefficient but I guess it looks less boxy than the average humidifier.

It worked okay humidifying my smallish apartment. Most of the mist seemed to spray backwards (assuming the curved side is the front) so don't count on putting it close to a wall.

I have to agree with some (or most) of the other reviewers here that it sounds like muffled pop-corn popping. Yes I know that's the boiling sound and boiling is good for killing germs, but it also kept me up all night and that's not good since I only use a humidifier while I sleep.

I should have checked Amazon reviews first. I'll be returning this one tomorrow. I found another brand that uses ultraviolet light to kill germs so hopefully that one will be quieter.
