5.0 out of 5 stars I was freezing in the North East
I would highly recommend this heater. Prior to this purchase, I owned a Pelonis oil-filled heater that looks like a radiator - it broke down in less than a year and was far to costly to have repaired - what a piece of junk. Anyway, the Bionaire heat is magnificent. Its not very noisy at all, heats the room very quickly, and the twisting position system is quite effective...

This small unit provides excellent heating power in a small, attractively designed package. It does, however, have its drawbacks. One is the annoying design for the control buttons. One button on the unit controls both the heat temperature and the high/low fan (yes, only one button), which means you sometimes have to scroll through a number of temperature & high/low settings before you get to the one you want. The controls on the remote use exactly the same format. Even more annoying are the popping sounds the heater can make when turned on, but in idle mode. I'm guessing this is due to the ceramic heating unit being encased in a plastic shell. As the ceramics heat and cool in idle mode, the unit emits brief, sharp, random popping noises as the plastic elements expand and contract. Over time, I was able to block out these sounds, but think it is something that Bionaire could easily have identified and fixed during the testing phase for this product. In the end, these annoyances may be minor if what you are looking for is a small, attractively designed unit that delivers great heating power.

3.0 out of 5 stars Remote didn't work leaving the heater beeping all the time, January 5, 2004

Just barely picked up the unit and the remote didn't work. The remote wouldn't allow me to not only switch the unit to auto, it didn't switch from celsius to fahrenheit either. You might not think that is so bad except the unit beeps once every 2 seconds until the remote is synced up with it. So $50 later I was left with a beeping heater that really doesn't put out that much heat anyway.

My girlfriend and myself had carefully reviewed all the indoor heaters featured on this website and came to the conclusion that this product might be the best bang for the buck after reading other reviews. Although, when we recieved the product in the mail and opened the product everthing looked like we had imagined it would. Once we plugged the heater in we noticed that it was only blowing heat out of one head unit (it is suppose to blow heat out of each unit) not two like it says in the manual. I went ahead and plugged it in for awhile hopeing that maybe it takes some time to warm the upper one up but after a half an hour I then understood what a poor product Bioaire had produced. To make things even better the two year warranty that features with this product is as complicated as one can get. You must fill out numerous amounts of infomation on a sheet enclosed with a return shipping money order that should be paid for the trouble of recieving a faulty heater and then they say it may take 3-4 weeks to get a working on back to you. I instead will just take the 80% refund from amazon becuase for one it is a much easier process and two becuase I really don't care to try another one of these heaters again. I think that if this product did not have a history of mechanical errors then it might be worth buying buy I think I am being very fair in my critic of this heater or at least my experience with it. My advice would be skip this brand and try another one in order to save you from a similar mess!

Anyway, the Bionaire heat is magnificent. Its not very noisy at all, heats the room very quickly, and the twisting position system is quite effective. For instance, it took about 20 min to heat a room 10'x12' several degrees, whereas my old oil-filled heater took 30 min just to get warm and another hour to raise the temperature just 1-2 degrees (using the same amount of power). I am very pleased at my purchase. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an excellent heater.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good, December 30, 2005
This review is from: Bionaire SmartTouch Ceramic Heater with Remote (Kitchen)
My unit had shut itself off for no reason several times. This is a huge problem, since I woke up in a freezing room. Other problems: loud popping noises when it stops heating, no rotation limits the coverage, remote isbadly designed. I am returning it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bionaire Heater is Suberb, November 3, 2009

This review is from: Bionaire SmartTouch Ceramic Heater with Remote (Kitchen)
I bought this heater 3 years ago after seeing how effective it was at a friends house, (and efficient too). And I just ordered 2 more for our larger dwelling. (The old model was Bionaire BCH3220; the new model is BCH3225-U, just a minor change in remote control design). This ceramic heater is the only cermaic heater I could find with a fan for improved heating from a small distance away. The Remote Control Thermostat is great as well. Just set the temperture you desire, and kick back for a safe good night's sleep. Better than any other space heater in the market, and practical to use for saving on heating and electric bills. (Has 1000 and 1500 Watt settings). This year, all "brick and mortar" stores were all out of this model, with no re-order date in site. But it's so good it was well worth the time spent searching the Web to find it, and then setting up an account on Amazon. $40 sale price tag at Amazon - best deal anywhere for the money. Also sold by "DealYard", Amazon's supplier, but at a higher price when buying direct - (go figure?) Bionaire makes other models, but I would only recommend this unit, the BCH3225-U - Highest Recommendation, (from a very critical consumer) - the best out there, you won't ever regret this purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent buy, December 3, 2008

I absolutely love Bionaire heaters. Their design esthetics and the remote are great. The two heaters I've purchased(different styles)worked well in keeping me warm. SAFETY should be the main criteria for room heaters. I would never let any room heater run all night. Any manufactured item can have a defect. There are too many room heater tragedies, so one should use these heaters with a realistic expectation. I think these are well designed items, but hey they only cost $79.00 ...so people should understand this is not a $400 heater. I have no complaints...heat works, any noises don't bother me . I turn the heater off when I am ready to sleep and I turn them on in the morning using the remote...by the time I get up the room is toasty.
I highly recommend the Bionaire heater...if you are realistic and safety conscious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Portable Heater, March 6, 2010

I LOVE this heater. Truly one of my best purchases. I have two - one for home and one for the office. It puts out more heat than you would expect and it's very quiet. Once you pick a temperature and level of heat (low or high) you can use the remote to simply turn it on and off and it will be at your favorite setting right away. It makes the room feel nice and cozy and it's so quiet that I don't realize it is on. I've had several portable heaters over the years and nothing is better than this one. Bought another one as a gift today on Amazon since a relative saw mine and loved it too.

The size and style makes it very sleek and I never dread having to take it out each year. Another plus is that I can direct it to warm just my area if I wish since my husband doesn't like too much heat- this way we are both happy! I read the other reviews and was surprised to see a few disappointed people. Some mentioned popping noises and other defects. I NEVER experienced these things and it seems there may have been a defective lot out there, unfortunately. The positive reviews were right on the money though and made me smile because I feel the same way those customers do.
