5.0 out of 5 stars Not the same old summers.
I like the fact that you are not just redoing the old series. This one is tougher than the "School teacher" Jamie Summers. I know that the plot will thicken and get better with age. I like the fact that I can get them Downloaded to my TIVO. Keep up the good work, and this WILL be on my TIVO ToDo list.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Wonder NBC Is Starving For A Hit..... This Isn't It.
Having never seen the original Bionic Woman, I can't compare between that one and the current remake however, based on what I have seen, I can now understand why NBC hasn't had a hit for awhile. NBC has been promoting Bionic Women all over the place (even in movie theaters) yet for all the hypying they did for this, I don't see this show lasting the season...

Having never seen the original Bionic Woman, I can't compare between that one and the current remake however, based on what I have seen, I can now understand why NBC hasn't had a hit for awhile. NBC has been promoting Bionic Women all over the place (even in movie theaters) yet for all the hypying they did for this, I don't see this show lasting the season.

I felt it was slow moving with nothing major happening until the end. Also, the editing was done very lousy. Instead of showing the "procedure", they quickly gave us a glimpse then cut away to the next scene. It would have been nice had they showed in detail (or at least something) that explains exactly what was involved.

The "dream sequence" was lame and felt kinda rushed. Why did the writer think we needed the scene where Jaime dreams of her new abilites instead of Will just telling her and demonstrating them? I felt this was a cop out and could have been written better.

The teaser to was pretty weak. I didn't understand what was trying to be conveyed to the audience and if your trying to sell a Pilot, it has to be better then what was shown. It has to grab the audience to make us keep coming back week to week and based on the pilot alone, I don't think Bionic Women has a chance in hell of lasting the season.

2.0 out of 5 stars No connection with characters, September 16, 2007

I watched it and really don't see where it is going. I didn't feel any connection with the characters at all.

There needed to be a bigger buildup or something and it just seemed to kind of throw you into a disjointed storyline.

I will watch a few more episodes, but the first one isn't giving me much hope.

2.0 out of 5 stars For a "reimagining" of a classic, it lacks a lot of imagination, September 29, 2007

*** MILD FIRST-ACT SPOILERS WARNING ***

Given the opportunity to resurrect an old-school show that doesn't really have a big following (like a Star Trek, or something), you pretty much have free reign. What I'm getting it is that my disappointments in this show have nothing to do with the original series (of which I wasn't a fan).

In this case, the pilot feels like a slapped-together retread of scenes we've seen in other films: the opening scene looks like a cliche from every Sci-Fi channel late night film that steals from Aliens; the climactic fight scene borrows heavily from the climax of Blade Runner (including lifting a line almost verbatim).

As far as larger problems-- there's a lot of disbelief that has to be suspended: a surgeon who endures a positively horrific car wreck (a really well-done piece of the show, although much of the novelty value has been lost thanks to that series of Volkswagen commercials) manages to walk away, entirely uninjured, and of clear enough mind to perform a surgery within hours.

And, also inexplicably, when she awakens from the surgery that gives her her bionics, she's unbelievably upset and goes into a rage (although then this is treated as an unconfirmed dream-sequence). For a woman that was just told she'd lost both her legs and her arm, an eye and an ear and been badly deformed in an accident to wake up entirely whole, I'd expect she'd wake up glowing in gratitude.

Another disappointment was the decision to have the bionic woman herself adapt fully to all of these remarkable body modifications within the scope of the first episode-- they allude to "other surprises" in a non-subtle way.

I give this two stars mainly for the casting and overall production values. The three stars missed are largely for story, script and direction.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, September 16, 2007
This review is from: Bionic Woman (Amazon Instant Video)
I was disappointed in the Bionic woman. The story on the first episode was disjointed and I never really bonded with the main characters. It never captured my attention. Hopefully, it will improve, but I don't have much hope for it. It wasn't even bad enough to be good.

That's what this should be called. The acting is wooden & the plot is unbelievable cliched. I predict initial interest that will fade once the competition starts up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing...., October 5, 2007

As a fan of the original Bionic Woman, I am appalled by the liberties taken by the writers in this show. First of all, they have completely altered the story of Jamie Summers, the original Bionic Woman. The story presented in the series is COMPLETELY different. I don't undertand why they didn't just change her name.

Second, the acting of Michelle Ryan is not the best. Still, I do think she is doing the best she can with what she has been given. But, she displays no emotion, barely any tears when crying. Her face looked completely emotionless when her fiance died or when she was at his funeral. The show just doesn't deal with her emotions. They have concentrated so much in the action and the lines that they have forgotten an important part of television, facial expressions and body language. The younger sister seems to be the only one displaying an emotional range in the show.

The show is not that cohesive. They do not explain certain things. Why was the sister sentenced(?) or prohibited from using computers? The show just doesn't tie in things together.

The show has a very nice visual style (hence my rating of 3 stars) and I think it has some potential, but a lot of things have to be fixed. These facilities, very low budget by the way, where she trains have really bad security and look like a basement. They should vamp up these settings and make them more hi-tech. The plotlines and the writing should deal more with how Jamie feels about all of this. She took everything so matter of fact (except for the initial screaming after her operation). Someone needs to wake her up and say "Woman, you are Bionic! React! I would also like to know how she knows all these fighting techniques. Was some computer implanted into her head? I mean, she did not train for that long!

In conclusion, the show has a lot of things that need fixing. And the first thing should be for Michelle Ryan to start showing some emotion and act better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bionic Wishes for Grown Women, but Strong Enough for a Man too!, September 10, 2007
This review is from: Bionic Woman (Amazon Instant Video)
As a preteen girl, I faithfully watched "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "The Bionic Woman," wishing that I could run like the wind and catch the bad guy. As an adult woman, however, I can appreciate the campyness of these 1970s TV phenomenons. When I heard that "Bionic Woman" was being remade, I was concerned that it might be too campy or silly for me to continue to follow my childhood dream. Boy, was I thrilled to see that this young bionic woman has matured right along with me!
This series will be the new "Heroes" of this 2007 TV season without question. The creators have laid out this story in a real world with real people facing real problems. Therefore, there is a dark ambience that builds the viewer's anticipation. From the first bolt out of the gate, this cast has chemistry plus, which is only enhanced by the presence of Katee Sackhoff, who developed a great fan base while starring in SciFi's cutting edge series "Battlestar Galactica."
All in all, this series really runs on all cylinders from the very first few shots and keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole wild ride. In some ways, this is "The Bourne" series meets "The Matrix," offering intrigue and action plus restrained science fiction with relational entanglements on the sides.
I'm so glad Jamie is back. Even at forty, I can still enjoy my dream that one day, I'll run like the wind, and catch the bad guy.

2.0 out of 5 stars So much promise just to fall flat on it's bionic face, November 27, 2007
This review is from: Bionic Woman (Amazon Instant Video)
The pilot was good. Not amazing but it was well done.

However as the series has progressed, not so much. Her sister is annoying and I get the tension is needed but something about her that makes her worse than the average TV teenager.

The main character and her new love interest is just boring. There is a lot of action but no adventure.

The only good parts is the prettiness of Will Yun-Lee, the awesome characters played by Molly Price & Miguel Ferrer who usually are the best things in OK shows and Kevin Rankin who plays a smartass guy who is constantly in Jamie's ear.

This show has some good potential with it's supporting cast and their story. But I'm done with the show.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm ....no Oscar Goldman???, October 6, 2007

I see the female cop "Faith" from Third Watch dyed her hair blond....oh The Bionic Woman...well they was right when they said this isn't your mother's Bionic Woman. Now that was a classic, easy to follow storyline,Jamie Somer tennis pro gets injured when her chute fails to open. The new Bionic Woman gets run down by a Mack Truck and she only loses an arm,an eye and two legs. Not with that impact she should have been mangled without recognition.I wasn't feeling the whole preggy storyline and the out of control lil sis that was left on the door step. The little sister character is annoying as anything,I can see why the father dumped her.

The visuals are nothing to write home about and after watching the second episode,I'm already bored.Sci-fi should put the original Bionic Woman on at the same time this one is on and see who gets better ratings.I can see why Lindsey Wagner had nothing to say about this next generation Bionics...
