This game can be fun, but was somewhat of a dissapointement to me. I was looking for a game where you can run around Mata Nui. However, each Toa and Toa Nuva is confined to their own Wahi. Also, there are many powers that the Toa Nuva have but are unused. In the movie, Onua Nuva has a power that sends a beam at the floor and makes rocks go at Rahkshi or any other enemies. He can't do that in the game. However, some parts, like the snowboarding with Kopaka, are very fun.

This game was set for release on PC and all of the other consoles that it's set for. But, the graphics were much to amazing for the video sticks and graphic producers in consoles at that time(3 years ago). but now it's back and better than ever. The graphics are still amazing and the movie that it is based on comes out very soon(by the time this is posted it might already be out...). An amazing game.

Too easy for my 10-year-old,

Great graphics, but my 10-year-old beat it in three hours. That's not much fun for a $40 game.

I am a huge Bionicle fan and have been waiting forever for this game to be released. I finally got it on Friday night and by Saturday afternoon I had finished it. There are only 6 levels and one easy boss level. I could have just rented it and saved the $40 for another game. The game play was great and the graphics were excellent. I really liked the racing levels. But lengthwise the game did not live up to my expectations. Its not that I'm great with games either. I haven't finished even half of all my other games. I'm disappointed because I was really looking forward to it and now it's finished already.

Please, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! It's really boring and 75% of the Bionicle storyline is not in it. It's also very boring to play. I had a choice of getting this or Zelda: The Wind Waker for FREE(yes, I said free), and I chose this. Me and my stupid choices.
PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS GAME!!

As a kid, I thought this was the best game ever and I like it. I still play it because I loved Bionicle and they stopped making the Bionicles. Shame seeing as they were the best-seller for lego from the time they started to the time they ended. Anyway, the game is very fun and challenging. Even you people who beat it in 3 or 4 hours, you have to admit that it's a pretty challenging game in some parts. I always thought it was a good game but I just discovered that the creators were rushed and released the game before it was complete! What a major shame! Had they had all the levels, I think it would've been overall better. I would've gave it 5 stars overall but there are a few things that are a bit bothersome:
There are pretty much no checkpoints for re-spawning when you die, so you go back to the beginning of the level when you die. Some parts are freakishly difficult to complete. It's not the controls because you can customize them. It's just it's hard to complete a few of the parts in a few levels (Mainly Lewa's). And the obvious con: It's too freaking short. I wish that Lego wouldn't have rushed the game because what we have is good and the whole thing would've been Excellent! Onto talking about the storyline: If you know the Bionicle story line, you should be relatively satisfied because it's pretty spot-on except for the jumps (due to it being incomplete). The Bohrok in Toa Mata Tahu's level are incredibly challenging to beat and same goes for the Bohrok-Kal in Gali Nuva's level. The 1st two levels (Toa Mata Tahu and Kopoka) are battling against Makuta's rahi and the Bohrok. Gali Nuva is against rahi and the Bohrok-Kal. Pohatu Nuva's level is going to warn Onua Nuva about a new enemy called a Rahkshi. The next three levels (Onua Nuva, Lewa Nuva, and Tahu Nuva) are battling the Rahkshi and the final level is Takanuva battling the mastermind behind all the evil: Makuta. Pros: -Extremely close to the actual story line -Very addicting game -Good graphics (for when it was released) -Great controls Cons: -Too short (That's Lego Company's fault; Not the gamemakers) -Re-spawn can be annoying at times -Lewa Nuva's Rahkshi battle is insanely easy to win Verdict: If you were/still are a Bionicle fan and not a fan of Hero Factory (The "New Bionicle" (It's not nearly as original as Bionicle was)) then you should seriously get it. You will like this game if you like Bionicle.

I don't really think this game is as bad as it's made out to be. Granted, I've been a long-running Bionicle fan, and now that the franchise has been taken over and replaced by Hero Factory, it's sort of nostalgic to be playing a game that takes it all the way back to the first generation Toa: The Toa Mata.
Nowadays, the graphics standard is set quite high by advanced systems such as the Playstation 3 and XBox 360. Being such an old game, the graphics certainly aren't anything to write home about; they aren't crisp and sharp, and many things seem blurred, flat, or otherwise disoriented. For one, the Bohrok seem extremely flat and unnatural when they move. (I think this has to do more with me having built the toys, therefore I know how each character is expected to move.) At the very least, I loved Ga-Wahi; the serenity of it was wonderful. It really brought me back to when Mata Nui was but an island and there were only six heros to protect it. They made the lava and water seem rather convincible, at least. (You can die from a lot of things pretty easily, though, but that isn't really a setback given how easy the game is. My only quirk is that when you touch something like lava, you don't fall into it or melt; you simply implode and the Toa's parts scatter. Not exactly a lava-ish death.) The gameplay is, as others have described, extremely easy to get used to, and the overall game is very short. Just a few levels in each Toa's respective village or Wahi. There's some added playvalue to it in that you can always go back and complete the level all the way by collecting the numerous lightstones to unlock some nice bonus content. Some levels (Pohatu Nuva's) can take a little time to get through due to the very fast paced action and unsatisfactory graphics, but it shouldn't prove too difficult. The camera work isn't too great either, but it's decent most of the time. There are some glitches I've experienced where the camera gets stuck or is in a position where you can't see your character at all. Last of all, the story. Ah, the story. I'm not too sure which came first, this game or the Mask of Light, but the game certainly takes a different turn from the canon Mask of Light. The game begins with the Toa Mata, but you only get to play through two levels as Toa Mata until the Toa are unexpectedly transformed into the Toa Nuva. It doesn't decipt anything of the Bohrak Queen's defeat, or what ultimately became of the Bohrok. Therefore, there's effectively a gap in the story where you play the first part and the rest is done off-screen. One of this game's greater assets is that it has VOICE ACTING. I was quite surprised at this, and while the voice actors aren't the same as the ones for the Mask of Light, it still sounds vaguely like them for the most part. At least they remembered that Gali is female instead of giving her a gruff man voice. Overall, I'd reccomend this game only if you're a hardcore Bionicle fan, and if you want to remember the good 'ol days when Bionicle was about six heros on a tiny island instead of the whole Bara Magna/Hero Factory buisness. Or, as one critic of this game once said, "It's only suitable for Lego-obsessed eight year olds." I got my copy for around $2.99, and I wouldn't really pay any more for it given it's age and outdated...everything. |
