Excellent Book,

This review is from: Biopharmaceuticals: Biochemistry and Biotechnology (Paperback)
Walsh sets out to introduce the reader to biopharmaceuticals, a term encompassing biochemistry and biotechnology. The book succeeds admirably. It is well organized and easy to read. He provides a nice brief overview of the past and a view of the future. A far better book than Oliver's The Coming Biotech Age. The reading is so easy, it's hard to put the book down. The author defines his terms and provides an understandable, though perhaps overly simple explanation of gene therapy, antisense technology, mimetics, &c. The only real drawbacks to the book are some minor typographical errors, and that it limited its illustrations to B&W. The author provides nice "Further Reading" suggestions, a list of internet relevant sites, and a useful index. The book is well organized.
