Meet My Sisters,

This review is from: NECA Bioshock 2 Exclusive Ultra Deluxe Action Figure 2Pack Big Sister & Little Sister (Toy)
Big Sister would be the female counterpart of the Big Daddy from the first Bioshock. According to packaging she's fast and agile with telekinetic powers. This is the Toys R Us exclusive that comes with a Little Sister.
Sculpt wise she's pretty immaculate with little details like the many straps and buckles all sculpted on and rivets and spikes all over the place. There are several textures here all done well and realistically from metal to cloth to leather like material. It's a multilayered costume with braces, buckles, knobs and weapons (primarily two wrist harpoons) all present. Unfortunately, as a fellow reviewer has mentioned the left arm is a problem. Mine too came right off at a peg at the mid bicep and did not appear to be glued - although I find it hard to believe that it wasn't - or at least wasn't intended to be. Also you'd think that it would act as a cut joint just by looking at the arm but it is not, it's just a peg, and therefore I assume many people will rip this arm right off. It can easily be repaired with a drop of super glue but really that shouldn't have been needed and I wonder what the intent was (I think they may have been trying to accommodate the arm sculpt but created a bigger problem in doing so). This certainly knocks it out of 5 star status but there's still plenty of good here. The paint work is great with lots of colors present, gold, silver, black, light and dark browns, white, red, blue - and even minute details like the many little buckles are painted with minimal slop. Most of the metal areas sport a rusty worn look as well. Big Sis is pretty well articulated. The diver's helmet head has little to no up and down range but turns side to side fine. There's ball type shoulders and elbows and cut wrists. She's got an ab crunch joint, "V" style hips and a kind of limited ball/cut joint on the upper thighs. Lastly there are single pin knees (with the pins going through the braces as well) and single pin ankles (the braces are flexible down here). Her accessory is the air tank back pack with basket for Little Sisters. It pops on and off and looks really great with tons of detail in sculpt and paint. The sections are riveted together and the tank has a great metallic texture. It has a knob on the top and side. The basket is a simple gold basket but with several pink ribbons (put there for or by the Little Sisters I imagine). The tank has little drawings of fish and people scribbled on it by the Little Sisters which is a great touch (there's even a couple of fish drawn on the back of Big Sister's head too as a matter of fact). The TRU edition comes with a Little Sister with her own little EVE extractor. This adds a lot to the figure having her sit in the basket or even stand beside Big Sis. The Little Sis extremely well sculpted, painted and articulated for the size with the only issue being that the extractor does not fit in her hand all that well. Final thoughts... If not for the arm issue I'd be very tempted to give her 5 stars, but it is an issue and a common one apparently. On the other side the overall sculpt and paint quality is as high as I'd expect even without the TRU bonus. I'm giving her 4 stars with the caveat that if it's going to bother you to have to glue one of her arms back together (although once you do no one will be able to tell) then the score will be lower for you.

Unbalanced,

This review is from: NECA Bioshock 2 Exclusive Ultra Deluxe Action Figure 2Pack Big Sister & Little Sister (Toy)
The painting and sculpting of these figures are phenomenal. They look spot on with the characters in the game. However, I had a very big issue of having the big sister have the air tank and basted attached, and also putting the little sister inside. the big sister becomes to top-heavy and just loves to topple over with any small vibration around her. Actually, they both have a hard time standing, even when they are on their own, with no attachments. The little sister's hand isn't molded to hold onto her syringe, and she doesn't have very many maneuverable parts to make her more balanced.
If you plan on buying this toy as a show piece, make sure you put it in a very sturdy place where it won't get bumped. On a side note, my little sister's forearm popped out of socket and will not go back in. All in all, it's a great looking toy with the right poses for the characters, but you must be very careful handling the little sister, as she seems delicate.

I truly love this figure so much. It is incredibly detailed, and looks just amazing. Though the durability isn't all that great (Broke the valve off the air tank just buy dropping it a few feat). I recommend every Bioshock fan.
