I purchased this to build a computer for a friend.
For the build, I used:
- Biostar Intel LGA1155 Z77
- EVGA GeForce GT 640 2048MB GDDR3
- Intel Core i5-3470 Ivy Bridge 3.2GHz
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500)
- COOLER MASTER Elite 330
- Western Digital WD200JD
- LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Black SATA
- Rosewill RV2-500
- Windows 8 Pro 64bit

The build up (physical & software) of the computer was painless and I had no issues.
I got everything running, installed LOTRO, GW, COD4MW and tested them all on max settings no issues.
I did some other testing over the next week to make sure it was solid. When I was satisfied that there were no issues (2 weeks after starting the build due to a continued busy schedule) I packed it up and shipped it off.

Upon arrival, everything was fine. We gamed a little, I ran my friend through some things that were new in Win8 since he was coming from XP, and he (other than the Win8 growing pains) was pleased.

A week later, I got a call that it was making a steady beep (constant repeated short beeps). After some over the phone troubleshooting, I got that the Code on the Motherboard LEDs was 55 and we ran through swapping around the RAM, pulling the graphics card and so on, all the usual troubleshooting. From that, the best I could tell was that there was something wrong with the Mobo because 55 wasn't even a possible error code from the lists in the manuals.

He shipped it back to me and I ran a battery of tests and confirmed that the RAM, PSU, CPU, drives and GPU were all ok. I tried other GPUs, PSUs and RAM in the motherboard, no success.

By this point it's been almost 6 months. For a few weeks of that time, this thing was great!

I have a Sandisk SDD, Gigabyte 560Ti, Intel i5 3550 3.3 GHz, and ASUS XonarDG sound card, 2x Corsair 1600 MHz RAM. Coupled with a Corsair CPU cooler, the board is well-spaced enough to fit everything. Great performance so far, my CPU is the bottleneck at this point (should've gotten an OCable CPU). No issues with assembly, BIOS, or drivers. USB 3.0 work well with a 3.0-capable external HDD.

Great board for a great price.

Paired this board with a i5-3570k, a 212 evo cooler, 8gb of corsair 1600, agility ocz vertex 3, and a ati 5850. This machine flies! I put the cpu at 4.3ghz from first boot and has been rock stable since. Great budget board does everything you could ask for the features it has.

This motherboard is really awesome. I couldn't ask for more. I bought 2 of these because I wanted a windows 7 system and a windows XP system to run some older software. Both boards work flawlessly with both operating systems because there is full support for both of them. I never bought Biostar boards before but I seriously doubt that I would buy a different brand in the future after my very positive experience with them.

I bought two of these motherboards and have been running Linux on them for about 6 months. They have been reliable so far, though I'm not taxing them, not overclocking etc.

4 stars because the jury's still out on durability. The board's been running my pc for only a week. This is my first Biostar motherboard so I'm not sure what to expect. The box says 100% solid capacitors, FWIW.

It has all the ports you'd want DVI, D-sub, HDMI, multichannel sound, four USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, two SATA 6Gb/s, four SATA 3Gb/s, Gigabit Ethernet, PS/2 for keyboard. It even has power and reset switches mounted on one corner - never seen that before. I guess those would come in handy if you wanted to power-up but hadn't hooked up the case-mounted switches.

I guess what clinched the deal for me was the TZ77B's on-board 2-digit red LED display that shows various status codes during the boot process, and, once booted, shows your CPU's temp. (Mine's at 25°C now. I went with a 55Watt Core i3 3220 cpu.) It gets hot around here so it's nice to be able to peer in through the side panel vent hole of my computer case and see the temperature reading. Also there's a built-in fan controller to automatically adjust cpu fan RPM for you. Makes it a touch quieter. It's not enabled by default though. There's two 3-pin system fan headers for your case fans.

Instead of a traditional BIOS, the TZ77B has a UEFI, which has mouse support but it's half-baked. The cursor's so hard to control I mostly stick to the usual TAB/arrow keys. I did have to go into the UEFI's O.N.E. utility screen and tell it to run my Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RAM at 1600 instead of 1333 data rate. I set it to XMP 1 profile.

I can boot Windows 7 Pro in 35 seconds! This board doesn't get all the credit though, probably more due to the hard drive and Windows 7. It boots from a Western Digital Black WD4003AZEX 500GB 7200RPM hard drive connected via SATA 6Gb/s.
