About the Author
Dr. Trisha Suppes is Director of the Bipolar Disorder Research Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, and the Director of the Bipolar Disorder Module for the Texas Algorithm Medication Project. Dr. Suppes co-authored Bipolar Disorder: Treatment and Management with Dr. Paul E. Keck, Jr. She has published over 70 articles appearing in American Journal of Psychiatry, Archives of General Psychiatry, and Harvard Review of Psychiatry, to name a few. Dr. Ellen Dennehy is a clinical psychologist involved in research on the course and treatment of bipolar disorder. She is associated with the Texas Medication Algorithm Project and currently serves as the Scientific Director of the Systematic Treatment Enhancement Program for Bipolar Disorder (STEP-BD). Dr. Dennehy has appointments at Purdue University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Harvard University. Dr. Dennehy’s interests include measurement of complex provider behavior and implementation of treatment guidelines in community-based settings.

Must read for the patient or concerned family memeber,

Thank you for this important addition to the many many publications on bipolar disorder. This book contains a lot of very helpful technical information about the newest treatments, drugs and therapies available. It can be challenging, but is a great resource to help educate the patient or concerned loved one. Take it with you to the doctor and ask questions! Readers, take note - this was published in 2005! It has the newest information, unlike other books that continue to preach about outdated treatments!

This book really is fantastic for the student of psychology, or the lay person. It uses terms as they are used in the DSM. It manages to be very highly accessible without feeling condescending, and its concise enough to be read in short order and used as a day to day reference guide.
