Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is the most up-to-date, comprehensive, and scientifically rigorous book on the topic of bipolar disorder in youth. It is the source for research findings related to the epidemiology, neurobiology, genetics, clinical characteristics, course, and treatment of pediatric bipolar disorder. Any mental health professional who treats children with bipolar disorder should own a copy of this book."--Karen Dineen Wagner, MD, PhD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas

"Geller and DelBello have done a great service to the field by pulling together into one compact volume the diversity of findings relevant to juvenile-onset bipolar disorder. The chapters, articulately written by noted experts in the field, provide state-of-the-art summaries of the research literature pertinent to differential diagnosis, comorbidity, risk and protective factors, longitudinal outcome, genetic and neurobiological vulnerabilities, and pharmacological and psychosocial treatments. Collectively, the chapters provide a balance between research findings, clinical observation, and therapeutic tools. This comprehensive volume is a 'must read' for clinicians who treat children with bipolar disorder and researchers planning new studies."--David J. Miklowitz, PhD, Department of Psychology, University of Colorado at Boulder
