I bought the Bird Chase Sonic... I had birds in the tree's next to my balcony. Before the unit i was cleaning up thier "mess" almost every day... now i can enjoy the back deck without worring about presents from above. The unit can be turned off when you are near it... it does make a sound we can hear.

I turned it down to a very low setting and I would estimate it is 80% effective at this setting, it doesn't bother neighbors or cause sleep loss.

Was having a horrible pigeon problem and thought that the Bird B Gone Bird Chase Super Sonic would be a simple solution. Long story short it mildy bothered the pigeons for half a day at most, but then they figured out that with all that noise nothing else was happening. No pigeons were being preyed upon and there was no danger at all. Maybe we just have really smart pigeons, but they caught on fast and weren't fazed after the initial installation. Ended up having to use a gel applied directly to the roof and poof they were gone and haven't been back in 4 months. Amazon was GREAT on the return and refunded our money immediately.

I suppose everyone's experience will be different depending on a host of factors. I live on 20 acres in WA state and have barn swallows (repeat customers) that insist on nesting on the ledge above the living room windows. This year I was determined not to have the side of the house messed up but didn't have time for hand to beak so I got this machine to play while I was away. The first response was from the teenagers and wife, "Do we have to listen to that?" But it did appear to work - for about 2 weeks. I liken it to a Gary Larson cartoon with the birds saying, "This is going to be fun, he's got one of those stupid bird-call machines." It was soon apparent it had little effect on the swallows so I shut it off. While waiting for the ferry to go to work one morning I became much more interested than usual in the thin wire they string above all railings. I went home and did the same above the windows. End of problem.

We found that this product did not work on birds in NW Oklahoma. The sound this device makes is as annoying as the birds you are tyring to discourage. At least it doesn't leave the same deposits. It was an expensive gotcha.

The product description makes it sound as if you can select specific distress and predator calls for 22 species of birds, but that is just not true. There are seven settings, none for catbirds. We have tried using the setting labeled "general" and even though it is all set up according to directions, we have found the birds are very comfortable with the noises, which are just not that loud, and the final insult was finding it covered with blueberry-filled bird droppings. The package states it comes with 100 ft of cord but the cord was barely 15 feet. And it is not waterproof.
What a huge waste of money, time and hopefulness!

The bird scare sound device works fine. It is loud, consistent and turns off at night if you want it to (not mentioned in any of its advertisements).BUT, it only has two "all bird" sounds (one distress and one hawk) and that repeats every 10 minutes. The traditional Bird Guard randomly gives distress calls (about 15) and you can change the timing. It is a much better device, worth the 40% higher price.

If you're looking to attract pigeons, then this is a great device. I installed the unit in my attic and placed it near a vent so the sound would travel out. You can easily hear it from ground level at my two-story house. After a few hours of setting it up for pigeons and alarming every 10 minutes, I ventured outside. Low and behold, I have even more pigeons on my roof and they were all congregating near the vent where the sound was coming from.

First of all, I bought this specifically after researching the device for the purpose of keeping Canada Geese off my lawn. I guess there is two versions, because this one doesn't even have "Geese" as an option and the "General" bird setting did nothing. Here is my major complaint: If the purpose is to get rid of birds, it may work. However, by design, this thing blasts bird calls/noise EVERY 10 MINUTES and that is not adjustable. So basically, rather than hearing birds periodically, I hear them constantly all day everyday. So for residential use, this thing is worthless, unless you and your neighbors are deaf.
