Product Description

Package Quantity: 1

The Bird B Gone Hawk Decoy is the first Red Tailed Hawk Decoy available in today's market and is used the same way as owl decoys to scare birds from open areas. Mock predator eye and shiny reflective surface work together appealing to a bird's sight and sense of danger. Red Tailed Hawks are known for hunting during the day, while most owl species hunt at night when birds are roosting. This makes the hawk a more identifiable predator to birds. When birds see the decoy, they will want to avoid the area! The Hawk Decoy is ideal for protecting open outdoor spaces such as gardens, backyards, balconies/patios, boats, overhangs, under eaves, and rooftops. The life like painted features and menacing look add to the overall effectiveness. The Hawk Decoy can be hung from rope or twine, weighted down, or simply placed in affected areas. The Bird B Gone Hawk Decoy is made of a durable plastic, designed for outdoor use, and can be mounted on patio covers, rooftops, boat canvases, and other flat surfaces. Open bottom tab of Hawk Decoy and fill with sand (not included) to weight. Hang the Hawk Decoy using the convenient loop at the top of the decoy or simply place the decoy in the affected area. It can be helpful to move the position of your hawk about once a week. For over 20-years, Bird B Gone, Inc. has been an industry leader in commercial and residential bird control. I posted it in my barn and the pigeons set right next to it.

After that, there was swallow poop all over the decoy hawk and the birds were back to building their mud nests under my eves.

I've been bombarded by dive bombers (a.k.a. American Robins & Black Birds on my cars) They would pearch on my car & truck mirrors, crapping their brains out. I have a crabapple tree next to my driveway, so I needed something to keep them away. After some research on American Robins, their biggest enemy was the hawk, also read they dislike snakes. I got my Bird-B-Gone Hawk from Ace Hardware (same price as one here with shipping). I hung it in the tree, and waited. I thought it worked for the first week, because it seemed like the birds were not around as much, but the one day I walk outside, and all the black birds are sitting in the tree laughing at me and my hawk! I also laid bungee cords in the tree and on the ground (to act as snakes) which also did not work. I'm trying to be nice to nature, and find ways to resolve my issues without killing any birds. My neighbor also took drastic measures and got one of the Bird-B-Gone Owls, that "hoots" and that also did not work! We both knock out any nests from the trees if they try and build one. So my advice to you, don't waste your money. If you've experienced better results, would love to here them! I gave it one star, because lets face it, the main purpose is to keep the birds away, which it does not!

This hawk works great! The starlings are no longer crapping all over my door step but they now are crapping on my stairwell so I guess I need to order another Hawk. The one I currently have is posted on a wooden pole. It moves slightly in the wind and looks very real. The next one I purchase I believe I will fill it with sand, and set it on one of the steps because there is no where to mount a pole or hang it from something. I am very pleased with my purchase! If you have bird problems I would recommend purchasing one of these Hawks.

The hawk decoy worked good the 1st week or so. Then the squirrels and rabbits learned it wouldn't hurt them. I moved it every day but the varmits weren't fooled.

I bought this product in hopes of scaring away the loud birds outside my window that wake me up every day. Maybe the birds in Southern California have never seen hawk before. I don't know. What I do know was that this was a complete waste of money. It did nothing to deter the many, many birds that have decided to setup shop here. Yes, the hawk is scary looking. These birds didn't care. Unless it flew and made hawk noises, I don't think it would've made a difference. Turned out to be an expensive garden decoration.
BTW: I tried the owl too. That didn't work either.

This was my fifth in an increasingly costly string of attempts to dissuade a couple of flickers attempting to build a nest in my siding. Perhaps I have some persistent pests. The first day I put this out in the yard, I could hear a noticeable increase in bird chatter. That's the only result I've seen from this. Squirrels don't mind, rabbits don't mind, flickers definitely don't mind. Seems the only animals that took notice were a couple of resident hawks that circle and screech when I move it around the yard. The Bird-X TAPE-25 Irri-Tape Bird Repellent Ribbon seems to be working much better against the flickers - although it does have a certain WT look to it.
