Inspiring and Depressing,

The new DSLRs and vibration reduction lenses finally makes digi-birding viable since you can head out the door and shoot reasonably good hand-held photos. Tipling is my favorite bird photography author. (I have all his books and regularly check in on his blog, http://www.davidtipling.com/blog.aspx?pid=11.) He is truly an artist with his shot compositions.This is inspiring in the sense that you see what is possible and you want to get out into the field and depressing in the sense that you realize how high the bar is to achieve great. Tipling is also an excellent writer as he lays out his guidance for composition, traveling and destinations. The photos he uses to illustrate various points are incredible and the extended captions are insightful as well. This is a must-have book.

This is a great book for anyone looking for new and exotic locations for bird photography. It gives locations all over the world and includes many excellent images of birds that can be found in those regions. And the author gives his tips and techniques to capture these beautiful images as well as some insight to these birds and their behavior. Very well done!
