Apparently 3 more tracks were inserted without updating the track index. I realized this when I played the whip-por-will track and heard a hermit thrush instead. Don't use this CD for field identification unless you can figure out what the 3 extra tracks are and where they were inserted so you can rewrite the track listing accordingly. Otherwise, the recordings are crisp and clear.

This is the most authentic CD of various bird sounds that I have ever heard. My two paraketts listen very intently to the sounds and then go on and make their own chirps too.

I purchased this cd for my budgie to hear & learn different bird sounds during the day while I am @ work....Maude just goes wild when I walk over to turn it on.....she will sit on top of the cd player & bob her head.
It will be cool when she starts repeating the different birds
I had no trouble with the track not lineing up but the 3 bonus tracks didnt have a name only unavailable....but Maude can't read so she dont mind

I really enjoy this CD. It was hard to find a disc without instrumental accompaniment. I am not a bird watcher who wants to know the names of the different birds so it doesn't matter to me that some of the tracks are labeled wrong or not at all. I have a conure and she has begun to sing like some of the birds on the CD. I only wish that I could find a CD that has the same birds through the entire play. It's a great CD if you just want something to relax to.

Lots of pleasant sounds, but the issue is that the CD has 71 tracks on it (note that the CD says that there are 68 tracks...). The index printed on the CD clearly does not line up with the songs that are on the CD. I have obviously had a hard time figuring out how to match the pleasant bird sound with a real bird!

I don't understand when people say the tracks don't line up, because they do. There are three bonus tracks at the end of the cd which are not listed on the back cover. I don't know what birds these are, but the rest of the cover lines up, except it says (1)zero tone (2)summer tanager and (2) is one, because 1 is considered two also. The bird sounds themselves are amazing and clear and if you like bird sounds this is for you.

There seem to be two main types of birdsong recordings out there: the "naturalistic" ones set in the deep woods and the "studio" ones captured with close-mike techniques. Both have their advantages. I wanted one for a pet parakeet and chose this one for its exceptionally distinct, up-front sounds. The bird responded well to the clear and realistic vocalizations (as did the cat, who bounded across the room to her favorite window to check out this new "invader"). The variety of birds represented is astounding (68) and with the repeat button on a player a favorite species can be selected from time to time for continuous play. The best of the "deep woods" style could be substituted for environmental/meditation music and the distant, muted bird vocals should work as well or better than most of the minimalist "music" recordings that are tagged for the meditation market sector. Either, of course, could be used by birders to hone their recognition skills.

I ordered the CD for my cockatiel that goes outside every day. In the winter he is stuck inside and throws a fit. I play this CD with all different birds and he is happy and signs back to the birds. The birds sounds are just like being outside. I also enjoy the CD. There is no synthetic music just bird sounds and you feel like you are outside.

This disc contains a number of well-recorded bird songs...but it's the wrong number. The publisher created an incorrect index for this disc and it makes using it rather difficult. If you know what the birds sound like, it's a fine resource, but I haven't figured them all out and I must admit to being a bit frustrated. Perhaps this item should be recategorized under puzzles :-)
