I purchased this product to scare away deer, rabbits and other pests from a garden. The product is well built and suited for outdoor use. There are different frequency settings that correlate to different animals. However, for some people all of the frequencies are audible to the human ear and for some can sound like nails on a chalkboard.

Our garden is too close to our living area to use this product. While outside, some people can be quite annoyed by the constant high pitch frequencies even from 100 feet or more away. The unit was even pointed in the opposite direction and the sound was still heard from far away. It does have a motion detector, but with the sensitivity turned all the way down, the unit still continued to send out the high pitch sounds almost constantly because of birds flying by and general leaves, trees and shrubs moving in the breeze. We will need to find another use for this product and a different location.

The product does seem to do the job at scaring pests off, but can also be extremely annoying for humans.

This product did not keep the deer away from our garden/flowers at all and I was very disappointed in it. I had deer coming up to my back porch and eating flowers from my pots. They were also eating and digging up my African violets. Even with this product, they continued to eat.

I have the Deer Gard affixed to the back of my house, and I have seen continuing evidence of deer presence. Plus, every time I walk by, there is an irritating chirp when the device recycles. I live in a residential neighborhood in Central New Jersey, and the deer are becoming more and more of a problem, due to some woods about 75 yards away. They gallop down the street in the wee hours of the morning and have a wonderful time, since hunting is not allowed and there are none of their natural enemies to cull the herd.

So, no, I am not pleased with the product, although the Amazon service (ordering and delivery) was good, as usual.

After reading all the reviews I still decided to purchase the Bird-X DG Deer Gard Ultrasonic Deer Repeller. I planted up my rose garden in the front of the house and it has flourished over the past 2 month. I really though my purchase worked even though my husband was laughing at me. Everything was in full bloom and this morning when I walked outside everything was eaten. The smart little devils waited for the prime picking of the juicy new growth and the tasty petals.
Unfortunately I can honestly say "THUMBS DOWN" for this product,it does not work....

I bought this product for my daughter and myself in Febrary 5 2010. Deer and dogs just walk by it like it wasn't there. The settings were set as suggested. It's been over 3 weeks and the animals aren't affected by it. The battiers will need changed soon! I feel it was a real waste of money.

Although this device does detect deer and it does sound the deer will completely ignore it unless they are 10 feet or less from the unit which makes the need for several of these to cover a large area. Also the high frequency can be heard by humans and the wind blowing trees will set this off.

It is useless. Deers ate my crops right in front of this device. It is activated, but deers just ignored it.

I sent an email to PCSOUTDOORS to request returning it a week ago, but I did not receive any response from them.

After reading some of the reviews on the Deer Guard I thought that I would try it just to see if it worked. I purchased it in March of 2010. We watched as deer would walk right by it and keep eating, some even lying down very near it! We kept moving it to new places with the same results. We then noticed neighbors walking their dogs past it and it didn't bother the dogs either. Then after about three months, we had several neighbors complain to us about the very loud noise something was making from our property?? Well so much for humans not being able to hear ultrasonic sounds!! Seems that there are some people that are very bothered by the sounds that the deer guard makes. Although the deer are not some of them! So I can say that this product is just a waste of time and money..
