Has worked great. Haven't lost a Koi since!!!,

I bought the original design about 5 years ago after losing half my Koi from our pond. After the 3rd year, the eyes 'dulled' and didn't look real. (we lost a couple more fish---not realizing what had happened)I replaced it with a new 'Gator Guard' and all is well again. I would suggest replacing it after 2 or 3 years. I'm going to see if I can purchase the plastic eyes in the future & save some $$$. I live in Point Pleasant, NJ. This thing has saved my fish. Sorry to see that some people haven't had the same luck. Not only has it saved my fish, but keeps the ducks and heron and any other large birds from my property and above ground pool ever since. I let it float on the water and the water is always moving via the waterfall or the fish swimming. 5 stars from me!

Delivery was FAST. The alligator head is "okay". Unfortunately, it sinks more than half-way in the water or tilting way over to the side. Time will tell if it helps keep the birds away.

We had a big problem with ducks from local ponds wanting to make new homes in our swimming pool. Gator head to the rescue. It went together easily and does the job. Makes a great pool conversation piece, too. Ducks are gone.

This is a very picturesque alligator head that floats in our swimming pool, providing a bit of a topic for conversation. Unfortunately, it has had absolutely no effect upon wild ducks that fly into our swimming pool, swim around, and fill it with their excrement. I believe that our pool water must have wonderful laxative properties for ducks. We have tried every conceivable measure, including: fake owls, fake coyotes, yelling, swinging poles, etc. We are unwilling to purchase a swimming dog, just to deal with the ducks (what would we then do with the dog?). Now, the ducks have decided that they actually LIKE the alligator head and have chosen our backyard for their family abode. Their baby ducklings sit on it with their mother's approval. Certainly, we did not intend to spend such money merely to entertain them. At this time, we're commissioning a custom net to cover our pool and make it inhospitable to the ducks. We also fear the potential invasion of wild geese that have been sighted in our neighborhood. For potential Gator Guard customers, don't purchase this unless you merely seek a conversation piece.

Bought Floating Alligator Head to scare heron from eating fish in our small garden pond (approx. 12'X16'). We have seen heron fly over three times, but to our knowledge has not stopped to eat any of our fish. Before Alligator Head, the heron was a frequent visitor and ate many fish. We had stopped buying koi because he seemed to prefer them. When they were gone, he started on the goldfish.Easy to assemble. Staked to a pot in pool with approx. 3' length fishing line which gives room to move with flow from waterfall, wind and pump.

Waste of money,

Buy this product only if you want it for decoration. We had a green heron use the alligator head for a perch to better look for our fish. We installed a net over the pond and that stopped the heron. This product is a waste of money.

My husband bought this for the golf course we play at. They are having a terrible time with geese. I had my reservations that this thing would work but 10 minutes into this thing being placed in one of the ponds those geese would not go into the pond. They were squawking and carrying on. Several hours later those geese were still spooked. The eyes in the unit are quite menacing in the sunlight. The only downside is that it does get stuck in any weed growth but I would imagine you could use some type of anchor to place it in the middle of a pond. There is a heron at the course and we didn't see her in the pond where the alligator was placed.

I was skeptical when I bought this gator for my swimming pool, but he's already proved his worth. I would say that the egrit birds sitting poolside, pooping and dipping beaks into the water, has decreased by over 90% since this fellow started handing out in my pool. My guess would be that if a bird is hungry enough, it'll still raid a koi pond with the gator present, but if that same bird is offered a choice between the neighbor's pool with no gator and my pool with a gator, it'll choose the other venue. The eyes look positively wicked with this gator, and I'm inclined to believe they're a big part of the reason he works so well. I'm a satisfied customer.

Purchased the gator guard to keep a blue heron out of my recently stocked small farm pond. It worked great for 2 days, but then the heron returned, and is not afraid of the gator. Also seems over priced.

I got the alligator 2 days ago to keep ducks and geese off of my dock, where they tend to like to flock and leave a mess. The alligator is difficult to assemble and it has an open bottom so it can sink if it fills with water. I floated the alligator right next to the dock and in the morning there were 6 ducks lying on the dock totally un-phased. I scared the ducks away and re-positioned the alligator. This morning I had a large flock of geese on the dock and on the nearby shore. A floating plastic alligator head did not scare them either.
