4.0 out of 5 stars Prowler Owl works very well.
Bought a Prowler Owl last year to protect a house which had about a hundred woodpecker holes in the siding. Siding was patched and painted, and we installed a Prowler Owl on a 7 foot piece of 1/2" galvanized electrical tubing, braced with guy wire to the house for stability.

A year later, not one hole, no signs of woodpeckers, and the owl is in perfect...

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Product. Complete Waste of Money!
I wish I could give it an even lower rating than one but I can't. I made my purchase based on some good reviews but now I am convinced those were all written by the company that produces the item.

I wish I could give it an even lower rating than one but I can't. I made my purchase based on some good reviews but now I am convinced those were all written by the company that produces the item.

I purchased this hoping to scare off the birds, squirrels and other critters that think I planted my garden for them. It may have worked for a day or so but they quickly caught on. I mounted the owl on a good sized pole hovering over the garden and when there is a nice breeze it sort of resembles an owl flying but the fact that half of it is basically a paper bag is pretty weak and I am guessing the other animals are too smart for that.

Just to show you how bad this product is- there is now a birds nest with babies, LIVING inside of the owl. A bird found its way into the owl and built a nest and has laid eggs and is now starting a family. What a terrifying owl.

This product is too expensive and doesn't work at all. Stay away from it. I should get my money back but I am sure they will say it is too late. I have never been so disappointed in a purchase in my life. I need to post pics on my blog soon.

A year later, not one hole, no signs of woodpeckers, and the owl is in perfect condition after going through a cold, icy and snowy winter.

Bottom line - it works fine. I'll raise the rating to 5 stars after we have passed another year of success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great to keep birds away from a pool!, May 21, 2009

I am buying my second Bird-X Owl today. I had a problem with bird droppings around the edges of my above-ground pool two summers ago. I tried 2 styles of owls and this one worked the best by far. Once I put it up, we never had a problem with the birds again. The old one fell apart after two summers of use so it's time to replace it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Owl does the trick!, June 27, 2009

I was having trouble with nasty blackbirds depositing their droppings around the top rail of my above ground pool. It was so gross and disgusting every 2 or 3 inches apart all around the top. I ordered the Bird-X owl with the moving wings and placed it on a 5 foot pole beside the pool. It does a good job scaring the birds and I have had a clean top rail on my pool since then! I move the owl from place to place each week to give the appearance of it not being a statue. It also helps because the wings move when the wind blows and that helps keep the 'trick' working. Definitely was worth the money.

Owl was hung in the breeze. Birds landed right under it. One bird even landed on the Owl's head. In southern Arizona, this Owl did not work and was returned.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it, it doesn't work at all, May 13, 2010

I bought this product because I have problems with seagulls, however, it does not work at all. Birds aren't discouraged to come near it at all. Besides, the owl y so ugly looking, my neighbor asked me if I could turn it around so that it doesn't face her house. Worst $40.00 I've spent.

Bought owl to deter birds from around pool. When we were puting owl together, a plastic knob snapped right off. Husband had to get his drill out to attach a screw. It works wherever it is; however, the birds are going to the other end of the pool.

When the owl arrived it looks great and so far is doing it's job, it has only been erected for a couple of weeks and the wing has ripped so I am sure it won't be long before it falls apart, very disappointed

worked for about a week, you could tell the birds were on the roof and trees scoping this thing out,but after a week they came in to the garden and started eating freshly planted seeds, salad string beans (their favorite). Went out and bought a net, which solved my problem.. I still kept the owl looks cool.

Hate the item--paper bags, that will deteriorate with rain or sprinkler contact, with a plastic head; wings only move if enough breeze/wind.
