Works but....,

So far I find that this is keeping raccoons away.. Two nights I didn't have it out and they dug around my yard looking for grubs. If it is out that doesn't happen and they haven't stolen any more tomatoes. So, it works and seems to work well.
My complaint and the ONLY reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 is that the on and off switch and all adjustments and batteries are inside the back cover which is a soft type plastic that fits over the housing. In order to mount this on a wall one has to mount with the holes in the back cover. PROBLEM is the back cover does not go back on the unit tightly. It is really difficult to get it on even half way and not enough to hang it off a wall. So if I want to turn the unit off and on (which I would like to do to save batteries during the day) I would have to fight that back cover. I was ready to return both units I bought but due to the fact that it works so well I have managed to sit it on a box and get the cover on the top good so no moisture gets in...

POOP-BE-GONE!,

PROBLEM: Dog poop in my front yard every day for two weeks.
SOLUTION: From the day I started using this product, my problem with thoughtless neighbors who were allowing their dog to poop in my front yard COMPLETELY ENDED! This product was worth the investment.

YardGard Vs. CatStop,
I bought the two products. Unfortunately CatStop did not have any affect on the cats, they ignored it. Yard card come with frequency chooser, volume control, animal frequency map and mode of operation (movement sensitive (as CatStop) and continues operation). After operating it, no cats were seen in the area.

Crank It Up!,
After much effort and expense to rid my yard of my neighbor's (5!) cats, one persisted in spraying my doorstep as often as I would wash it away. I installed the YardGuard at a moderate setting, and it reduced the tagging to about once a week. A few weeks later, I reset it to the maximum sensitivity, and it seems to have done the trick. I can now hear it myself, if I stand within a couple feet of it, but that is rare. Now, have you got a machine to make my neighbor go away?

Gets rid of pests,

After 10 years of trouble with possums, raccoons, cats, and groundhogs, I installed two of these under my recreational trailer, and no longer have a problem. They simply do not like the sound this product emits, and they no longer "set up camp" under my trailer.

This review is from: Bird-X YG Yard Gard Ultrasonic Animal Repeller (Lawn & Patio)
I have read most of the reviews and was looking for the LATEST Comments, until I clicked on the small blue strip
[right side] for Most Helpful First, NEWEST FIRST. [ Thought this would help you too! ] My problem was picking up Cat Poop in my backyard every morning, so that HOA Landscape Gardners would not step into it, amongst other obvious reasons. This was not too bad when it was solid, but terrible when it was not. This had been going on for a while until I had enough and started looking for remedies. I considered an outomatic watering system but felt it would spray the Gardeners and myself too. I tried spraying expensive Pest Control Pellets on my lawn, until I read about the Yard Gard. So I ordered it 6 weeks ago, plugged it in to AC power, and tried the motion censor first. But when I noticed a stray Cat pooping on my lawn, I realized that the Ultrasound would go OFF as soon as the Cat would stand still. So I changed it to Constant ON position, and tried different frequencies. Now Cats are pretty smart! First I noticed that a Cat would simply linger behind some plant containers, since Ultrasound does Not Penetrate Anything! So I moved some containers out of the way. Then I noticed that a Cat would simply turn its back on it, with its ears in the opposite directions. Now I almost gave up, but then a funny thing happened: No More Poop on my lawn! So I think it takes time for you to experiment, and for the animal to get frustrated. Do not give up so fast, and do Not expect a Quick Fix. Your patience will ultimately pay off. I would definately recommend this product to anyone. PS: When an animal first notices the anouing sound, it gets confused and does not realize that all it has to do is leave the area and that will stop the sound. It will take the animal some enter and leave the area to get the idea. Also: When I first got the Unit, I tried to see how effective the range is. So I adjusted it to Motion setting in the Evening [because the red light gets very bright in the dark and can easily seen from a distance] and walked away from it until it went on or off. This is a good way to check on its range. Thought you might like to try this too!

Less effective than a shotgun, but more neighbor freindly though,

If you want something to ensure a dog never sets foot in your yard again, get a shotgun. Because this won't do it. But if you want to make your yard less fun for dogs, this is great.
In weeks prior to installing it, there was dog poo in the yard every week when I mowed. In the 8 weeks or so since installing it, there has been dog poo twice. One was my fault - I turned it off while doing yard work, and forgot to turn it back on. The other time was within the first couple weeks, so the dog may have been still figuring it out. The neighbor dog does still come in the yard when playing fetch, playing with kids, or stuff like that. This will not drive them away howling in pain. But when the dog is looking for a nice relaxing place to squat, he can now find better than our yard. As far as I'm concerned, that is just about perfect. I don't mind them playing in the yard, I just don't like the mower tracking poo into the garage. These things are not supposed to be audible to people. Or at least not adults (children have a larger hearing range). But everyone I've asked under 60 can hear it when its on. What we hear isn't exceptionally loud, so it is not putting out full volume in audible frequencies. I think its just a sloppy/cheap buzzer that leaks into the lower frequencies. One other thought: It has a red LED that glows through the motion detector any time it is activated. At night it is visible from down the street... So today I opened it up, and put tape over it. There are 4 screws holding it together. You just take them out, and comes right apart. There are two things sticking up from the circuit board. One is the motion detector. It is like a metal button with a glass lens on the front. Don't put tape on it! The other thing sticking up is the LED. It looks like a small clear plastic light bulb. A 1/2" square piece of electrical tape covers it nicely, and now it doesn't glow every time someone moves.

This product works for us,

We use this product in our yard to repel deer. Before DeerGuard, we tried dozens of chemicals, devices, and barriers. Some worked at first - but then deer became used to them. Every year, they stripped our azaleas and many other plants clean of buds and leaves from fall to early spring. There were no flowering azaleas in our yard then! Worse, deer liked to "hang out" in our yard even when nothing was left of their preferred vegetation. They then began to chew on and sometimes strip plants they would normally leave alone. In short, deer made themselves at home in our yard.
We tried DeerGuard for the first time last fall. At first, deer still came and nibbled - but over time fewer came and they did less damage. Rather than get used to DeerGuard, they seemed to avoid it more and more over time. They no longer "hang out" in our yard - at least not anywhere near the DeerGuard device. This spring, our azaleas flowered nicely for the first time since the deer "discovered" us several years ago. It took a bit of patience, but we now feel that we finally have the upper hand. We recently bought two more DeerGuard units to protect the rest of our yard. An unexpected side benefit is that dogs avoid the protected areas - so if your community does not require or enforce leashes, DeerGuard is a convenient second layer of defense. Reviews by customers were very helpful in steering us away from lower quality products and to DeerGuard. Customer reviews of DeerGuard itself ranged from very high to very low marks. We wondered if lack of patience or other factors caused some pest control professionals' negative reviews. Anyhow, DeerGuard works for us!

Guard your yard from what?,
I bought this product because of the promises it made to repel squirrels. The squirrels haven't even noticed it. I have it on constantly and right where they enter the garden but they jump over it and have continued their destruction. The only thing that has noticed it is my neighbor who can hear the high pitch noise it puts out!!!! If it's squirrel's you want to repel this is not for you. I had the most luck with a inside household sonar machine (pointed out the window) which doesn't mention squirrels but does seem to have some effect on them.
