This is a must have for any serious Maynard Ferguson fan. 24 great charts from Maynard and his Birdland Dream Band. Audio is suprisingly clean and clear for a recording from 1956, and Maynard soars! If you've only heard Maynard in the MF Horn series of recordings or his later work post-Rocky, you owe it to yourself to get your hands on as many recordings from the 1950's as you can. Maynard's playing is absolutely insane!

Wow! This is one of the most tastless album recordings Maynard has ever recorded!!!!! Ferguson's Double High "C's" are just EVIL! It sounds like Maynard is going to split the bell of his trumpet in half!! Wow! This album has some of the tastiest arrangements and playing Maynard has ever recorded! HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!!! This album is second to the MOST tastless song Maynard ever recorded Jerome Kern's "All The Things You Are!" Kenton was even sued by Kern himself for what he called Ferguson's [...]-ization of his song! HA! HA! DIG SOME OF THIS MAN!
