felt compelled to counter the negative review posted on this martin house. i did quite a bit of research on the various models, materials, styles, and concluded this was best. we were not disappointed.
are there "lots" of pieces? well, yes. especially considering we purchased the 4-story model. but the instructions could not be easier to follow. and guess what? if you have a question about how something is supposed to look, there is a HUGE picture of a completed martin house on the box! takes awhile to put together? well, yes. lots of nuts and screws to tighten. simply secure the nut while tightening the screw, and voila. the screws get tightened. apparently, enough folks gave feedback, that depending where you order, you can choose to purchase it assembled... and pay a fairly hefty fee. me? i turned on the tv, and after a couple football games, had mine put together. very pleased with the materials and construction. should provide years of enjoyment for our martin "tenants". :)

I knew that the product needed assembly, but when I opened the box and saw the number of nuts and bolts it was a bit daunting. Then I got started....what a nightmare. The screws are almost impossible to tighten because of the type of thread on the bolts. They say the only things required are a screwdiver and pliers or wrench. You are working in a small space and it took a great deal of hand strength to get them even hafway started. Finally got out the drill, and even then some of the screws could not be anchored as tightly as they should be. If you are unfortunate enough to make an error...and the directions are not terrific, forget getting the screws undone to correct your mistake. It took me about 4 hours or so to assemble the majority of it, had to modify one area with a supply purchased at a hardware store due to my error and not being able to unscrew it even with the drill. The walls/doors where the birds enter are flimsy and I wonder how it will hold up with use. I called the manufacturer concerning the quality of the product and the difficulties in assembly and got a very bored sounding "okay" for a response. I would NOT recommend this product and would urge anyone to find another manufacturer.
