I love this book. The best feature is that you can look up the birds by color to find out their type. There is a bit of information about eating, habitats, mating, best viewing and how to attract for each type of bird. It is easy to read, simple to use, and it's small size allows it to fit anywhere. It's great for a beginner to identify the birds in your own backyard.

I love this bird book. It is divided by color and very easy to use. The Stan's notes section has interesting facts and useful information. The photos are close up and very helpful when identifying a bird.

I've looked through the whole book twice now. It's informative with very clear and beautiful photographs of the birds of CT as well as info about their habitats, food and mating habits. Though I haven't seen them all in my backyard the book has helped me identify the ones I have seen. The binding seems to be a little fragile so I would encourage anyone who does buy to handle it gently.

Love this little book! Used one while visiting family in another state, and when I got home, ordered one for me! What I like about it: color plates for male and female, color-coded corners to help you get to the right section to identify the bird you are looking for, and Stan's notes. Book's size fits easily in a coat pocket.

About two years ago, I bought this book at a hunting and fishing show, and my dogs got a hold of this book and chewed it up a few months ago. We couldn't really flip easily though it, or see the color tabs, which are very important for bird identification. Now that spring is here, we realized we couldn't live without this book!!! We needed to replace it. So we did. If you live in CT, you will see birds in this book, and will use this book to identify the birds that you see.

I have owned this book for years and bought it for a friend who showed an interest in birds. First and primarily, it's about CT birds so you don't have to wade through birds from other areas. The pictures are clear and sorted by primary color and then size, smaller to larger. The only thing I wish it had more of is the bird calls. Some are included in "Stans Notes" but much is not.
