Editorial Reviews

Review

Bobbie Kalman has done it again! This book will certainly inspire young readers to become bird watchers and bird appreciators for life - perhaps even to become nature artists -- CM, Nov. 1988

These books [North American Wildlife series] belong in every home library. They will be read and reread many times over. They are uniformly excellent and earn the highest recommendation -- Provident Book Finder, March 1989

Taken from Chapter 13: Cardinal Dining alone Unlike most feeder birds, the cardinal tends to dine alone. It comes to the feeder early in the morning or late at night when there are fewer feathered companions around. If an impatient cardinal wants to shove another bird out of the way, it sticks its head forward, opens its mouth, and flaps its wings. Sunflower seeds and grain are the cardinal's favorite foods. Parent cardinals often bring their chicks to feeders, so listen for small "chips," and watch for beautiful red-feathered adults feeding their tiny offspring.
