Birds of Florida
This is not the first book you will pick up to ID a bird. The illustrations in Peterson's or Sibley's are better. This book is about the birds we see every day in Florida. The written text is excellent giving you the what when where and how of the bird. It will guide you if you are searching for a new bird or just want to know everything about the bird. For instance if you see a Black Skimmer lying on the beach and looking dead it is actually roosting. This is a bird that lays its head down to sleep. The text is very easy reading and interesting and you want to just sit down and read it from cover to cover.

Birds of Florida,

A well illustrated book but not as complete as Peterson's Birds of Eastern and Central North America. Would make an interesting addition as a reference book but would not recommend it as one's only book on Florida birds.

By Kyle Leader (Washington U.S.A) - See all my reviews

i bought this guide because i was going to florida and i like lone pine guides for there pictures and there detail in all species. this guide does have one flaw best sites, only the florida exclusive species are given best sites with most of the others it just says widespread. this however, is a must for people living or planning a trip in florida.

No one birding book can give all the information that is needed to id a particular bird, but this book gives some details that are helpful in narrowing it down to a specific. Especially shore birds. I like the locator on each page, which is also helpful in identifying.
