Review
An understanding of the therapeutic power of remedies from the bird realm may prove to be one of the most significant developments in homeopathic materia medica. It fills a crucial gap in our remedy pictures, and my clinical experience already confirms the extraordinary possibilities of these remedies. This book is an excellent contribution to our developing understanding of this family of remedies. --Richard Pitt
I can imagine few things more honorable than to give voice, to truly see and to transmit, some part of the spirit of our planet. Usually this work is done by our poets and visionaries but in this case it was done by homeopaths. I am awed and humbled. This work of art should be required (and very enjoyable) reading for any serious homeopath. --David Kent Warkentin
This book constitutes a milestone in our knowledge of bird remedies, assembling ten years of information gathered from different sources and making this information available to the homeopathic world in a systematic way. --Alize Timmerman

About the Author
Jonathan Shore, MD, graduated from University of Cape Town Medical school in 1968. After 4 years of hospital practice which included surgery, pulmonary medicine and psychiatry, he embarked on a search for a system of healing based on a deeper understanding of the meaning of health. Determined to establish an opinion based upon experience, not just hearsay, of the claims of the numerous methods of alternative healing, he spent a decade in intensive study of many disciplines, including Acupuncture (Taiwan, Hong Kong, and four years as senior student to Andrew KT Ming in Los Angeles ), Tai-Chi Chuan, Shiatsu and Swedish massage, Integration-Breathing Therapy and Corrective Exercises (certified practitioner), Human Potential Movement (about 1000 hours of group therapy both as participant and leader), Jungian psychology (personal analysis), Gestalt therapy, Bioenergetics, Rolfing, Radiesthesia (Psionic Technique, England 1975), Iridology, Herbal Medicine, Psychic Diagnosis (Jack Schwartz), Bach Flower remedies, and Color Therapy. Towards the end of this time period, he was appointed to the post of Clinical and Executive Director of the Wholistic Health and Nutrition Institute in Mill Valley, California. This institute, founded in the mid-1970 s, was the first of its kind in the United States. The result of all this investigation was the selection of Homeopathic Medicine as the superior therapy in the treatment of chronic illness, be it physical or emotional. Since 1982 he has been in the full time practice of homeopathy in the San Francisco area, both in private practice and at the Hahnemann Clinic, of which he was one of the initiating planners. Intensively involved in teaching since 1983, Dr. Shore is recognized as a significant influence on a worldwide scale . In addition to a position as core faculty at the Hahnemann College of Homeopathy, he has lectured in Australia, Austria, England, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, South Africa and Switzerland. In 1992 he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Homeopathy, England. Judy Schriebman, CCH, RSHom(NA), CHt, became interested in homeopathy in 1983, when it cured her young son s chronic asthma. Ten years later, she graduated from the Hahnemann College of Homeopathy, where she had the privilege of experiencing Jonathan Shore as one of her core teachers. She continues to study under many homeopathic teachers from around the world. She also trained as a master clinical hypnotherapist, and practices both homeopathy and hypnotherapy in her group office, E Street Alternatives, in San Rafael, California. Along the way, she has raised two children, lived four years in Tokyo, Japan, has been a political and community activist, a soccercoach, the editor of numerous newsletters, a chicken farmer, and has recently completed writing a fantasy trilogy. Anneke Hogeland, MS, MFT, is a licensed psychotherapist practicing in Berkeley, California, and an approved consultant of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. She studied homeopathy at the Pacific Academy of Homeopathy in San Francisco. A Dutch citizen, she first came to the U.S. in the late sixties for college, but soon after her arrival became completely enchanted with hot air ballooning. She has traveled the world for many years as one of the first female commercial balloon pilots and set a world altitude record at 28,036 feet in 1977. As the founder of HomeopathyWest, she organizes homeopathic seminars in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her personal experience during the bird trituration provings inspired her to make the bird remedy information available to the greater homeopathic community.
