just enough for non-professional,
By
This review is from: Birds of Nebraska Field Guide (Paperback)
I enjoy watching birds in nature, and on my porch ( when I lived in the Cornhusker State; Nebraska), but I am not professional.
I found this book (and series) very helpful; it is organized by color (birds that are mostly red, yellow, etc..) so it is very easy to use. Each bird is pictured on the left side page - the right page has a small Nebraska map telling you in which season and which part of the state you can find the bird. It also contains description of male, female, juvenile - Information on nest, migration, etc...., then the author's notes. I did not have difficulty identifying a bird, and the amount of information (each page is 4.5 x 6 inches) is just enough for non-professional bird watcher.

Great little book to have on hand. Very easy to use with color coded page references that correspond to the predominant color of the bird you are looking for. Tells you a brief description of the bird and it's particulars. Gives you enough information to enable you to recognize the bird and be satisfied with what you now know about it, or go to another source for more in-depth information. (This is intended as a field guide afterall.) Beautiful color photos of every bird listed.
