Editorial Reviews

Review

Enjoy a guide which includes color photos of almost two hundred species in their natural surroundings, descriptions of bird habits, and intriguing pairings of how and where to look for each bird. This is a fine, affordable guide which goes beyond mere identification, teaching the basics of understanding birds. -- Midwest Book Review

This book covers a large variety of birds without being too complicated. The pictures are located on the ends of the pages, making it easy to thumb and find the bird you are looking for. The text tells bird features and interesting habits.

Good book for a beginner like me with good photography. Same problem as others though in that no one book has them all so you will need to buy a couple books to cover all the bases.

I'm not much of a bird-watcher, but my wife is a fanatic about it, so I bought her this book. She has barely touched it, but I read the whole thing and had a lot of fun doing it. I know nothing about birds, so it is now great that if I see some cute little bird in my backyard, I can grab this book and find out what kind of bird it is, and learn a fact or two about it. I would like it if it had more information in it, some birds have almost nothing written about them. But still, 95% do, and the full-color pictures really help. If you know nothing about northwestern birds, but want to increase your knowledge of them, then I say get the book. It's fun!

Highly Recommended.

This book is full of bright photos and easily identifies the many different varieties that we see here in the surrounding areas of Seattle. It provides a great overview of many different species and is very useful as a field guide too.
