5.0 out of 5 stars The best Flight Sim I ever played., June 20, 2011

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Birds of Prey (5.25" disk)
This game had every western fighter (and a few Eastern ones as well) coded in this game. From the F-20 Tigershark, to the Harrier, to the massive B-52, to the F-14 and beyond. Heck, it even had the X-15, B-2 and a plethora of other craft. Truly an amazing bit of game coding. I only wish I had the game on CD so I could reload it.

It's been ages since I've played this thing on my old computer, but I will never forget it. If only the original team were to revamp and republish this very delightful and amazing piece of flight simulation software. Until then, I have only memories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oldie but a goodie..., February 18, 2009

This review is from: Birds of Prey (5.25" disk)
This was my very first flight simulator (and one of the very first games I played), back in 1993. It amazes me to this day that they were able to fit that much content on that disk. By "that much content", I mean a massive, living world, filled with other aircraft all performing missions of their own. It's obvious when playing this game how much love the game designers had for the aircraft and weapons, as they are all faithfully reproduced (even their sounds). Most of all, this game is fun!

The only weird things to be aware of would be the issues of scale. The game designers erred on the side of fun when designing the tanks, factories, and other buildings... their size (especially in the case of the tanks) is wholly unrealistic, but it is definitely easier to spot the targets when they're that big :) Also on the side of weird... I'm not sure if this game actually ends or not. Despite months of missions, the enemy was still alive!

For anyone who can run it, this game features a ton of aircraft, realistic weapons and flight dynamics, a living world, a dynamic campaign, and a ton of fun. I only wish someone would do the concept justice and make a version for today's computers :) If they do, I would advise them to keep the content and dynamics (the core of what makes this game fun), but update the graphics and effects.
