I got just what a birder needs when going to an unfamiliar location: where to go to have the best chance of seeing specific birds. There is a wealth of information crammed into this little book, hot spots, check lists, habitat descriptions, some nice photos and tiny, detailed maps. I hope the information is not out of date, it is nearly 20 years old. I will find out next month.

This book is now 26 years old, so some of the information is probably outdated. By coincidence, it was published in 1988, the same year that Yellowstone suffered huge, devastating wildfires. That needs to be taken into account when reading this book. Otherwise, it's filled with birdwatching tips; descriptions of Yellowstone life zones, vegetation, and birdlife; and account of birds characteristic of Yellowstone, including occurrence by month, location by habitat, abundance, and nesting and feeding activities.

I thought this was a great guide to possess on an upcoming trip to Yellowstone National Park in the dead of winter. I learned a lot in terms of what to expect and how to prepare for the weather. I also would highly recommend the seller since I had absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of service.

Only an expert bird watcher would benefit from this book. It is useless for the occassional watcher

I ordered this book on the 9th, was leaving for Yellowstone on the 15th. I wanted this book to help me go to the best places to see the most species of birds in this huge park. Unfortunately the book arrived after I left, so it did me no good, and was a waste of money.
