Glass nectar container has a plastic top,
By Mnemosine "mnemosine" (Forest Park, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Birdscapes 8310-2 Landmark 10-Ounce Glass Hummingbird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
After doing searches and reading all the reviews, we opted for this feeder because it claimed to be metal and glass (the description reads: "Rising up from its hand finished metal base cover, its fluted glass nectar container is accented with a beautiful red tint"). Our spot is very sunny and we are not interested in investing on plastic trash that would last 3 years max and then crack. This feeder has a glass bottle that sits upside down on the metal part, but for some strange reason, the bottom of the bottle where the whole thing hangs from is made from plastic that is glued onto the glass, not something you can replace. Anyways, if you are looking for a feeder that can resist lots of sun and temperature variations, you are better off skipping this model. If you are the manufacturer, you should not deceive people with wrong facts in the description of your products.

Stunning and Functional,

I received this as a gift and I feel so fortunate. Photos really can't do this feeder justice. It is absolutely gorgeous. The glass part has a rosy tint. The base is coppery-brown. The feeding ports are copper-colored on the outside, with red inside the petals. The glass also has a few subtle cuts in it, giving it a bit of a crystal look.
Of course, the important thing is, will the hummingbirds like it? I hadn't seen any yet when I put this up. It's early in the season here. But within two days I had a visitor! And he's been back. It is not difficult to clean this feeder either. And it's easy to fill and reassemble. I defintely recommend it! Often the "pretty" feeders are not very functional. This one is.

I bought three of these and gave one away as a gift because my friend love them so much! It takes a little while for the hummers to realize they can perch on it. I attracted them with an initial 3:1 water:sugar solution and will go back to the 4:1 when they finish what is in there. Don't hesitate to purchase this!

Looks even better live than in the picture. When I ordered this I was afraid that it may not look as good once I received (I thought it may look cheap). It is beautiful, better than the traditional plain red hummingbird feeders.

I love it ... but the hummers don't,

This feeder is beautiful, and I was very pleased with it when it arrived. Unfortunately, the hummingbirds don't seem to like it. I have a much less attractive bright red plastic one too (Perky Pet 210P Popular Pinch Waist Hummingbird Feeder, 16 oz capacity) and the birds love that one. At first, when they didn't go to this feeder, I thought that maybe they just hadn't found it, but after a week, when I moved it to where the plastic one had been, there was almost no improvement. A few hummers came once each but then stopped coming. They seemed to have some trouble feeding out of it, and they may also dislike that it's not bright red (as others have mentioned, it is MUCH more pale than the picture suggests).
I'm disappointed because I would love to use this attractive feeder rather than my plastic one, but there's no point if the birds don't like it!

A Wonderful Hummingbird Feeder,

I liked this feeder because it's so pretty. The parts you can see are metal, and the bottle is tinted an orange-pink, though not as much as in the picture. I had to tie a red bow on it for the hummingbirds to find it. But after one or two days with the bow, they found it and I took the bow off. Now they love it! It doesn't leak, and the bottom and the feeding ports are easy to clean. The bottle part is narrow, and takes a really long, thin brush to pass through. But it's sturdy and worth every dollar. I'm really pleased with this feeder!

Beautiful but broken,
This review is from: Birdscapes 8310-2 Landmark 10-Ounce Glass Hummingbird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
I loved this feeder and so did the hummingbirds... for the month that we had it. Sadly today the narrow neck broke while it was just hanging up. I was considering getting one for my parents as a gift, but no longer. Very disappointing.
By the way: the neck is too narrow for a bottle brush, so the one time I had mold I followed the recommendation to mix vinegar, water and uncooked rice together - the friction worked like a charm to get the mold off the glass.

Judging by the photo, I expected the glass to be bright red. It's barely tinted a very pale pink. But the birds have found it and seem to like it. It also bugs me that the glass container can never appear "full" because after you fill it up, you have to turn it upside down to fill up the bottom bowl and hang it. That's a minor thing but if the glass were a darker red, it wouldn't be quite so noticeable and I wouldn't have this constant urge to add more nectar! But overall, it's a very nice feeder.

Beautiful, but Not as it is shown in the picture.,
This review is from: Birdscapes 8310-2 Landmark 10-Ounce Glass Hummingbird Feeder (Lawn & Patio)
Mine does not have the etched glass design that I was so attracted to, but rather it just has a plain cut design. It is still pretty, but not as Gorgeous as in the picture above. Still all in all it is a good hummingbird feeder and I have hummers (and Titmice!) in my yard visiting several times a day.
The base is in 2 parts for easy cleaning, the bottom part of the base is plastic and the top metal. Mine does not leak, I have it in the shade of a tree.

I put this feeder out on Saturday in early May and had hummers by Monday. It's also a really attractive feeder, unlike the plastic red ones. No leaks so far.
