Thank you for your feedback.
Feet get too warm sometimes cos of the leather but other than that they are pretty comfy.
If you are new to these shoes, I recommend that you try them on in a shoe store first so you know your correct size.
They are really well made, last a very long time and I think they are really pretty.

So... I had a pair of these when I was in high school. In 1995. So... 17 years ago. These shoes lasted forever. I actually eventually LOST them during our last move. It's ok, I got my moneys worth! Plus I was tired of the color, the pair I had were a dark brown.

I just got these in the redwood color with the soft footbed. I went for the soft footbed specifically because I recall, even after so many years, the rough break in period. These are comfy out of the box with the soft foot bed! Like a slipper. However I believe, I have no proof but I believe, that the soft foot bed will negatively impact the longevity of the shoe. I know the rubber on the bottom is replaceable and to some degree the cork is too from what I understand(I never had to replace the cork on my old pair though, if you replace the rubber before you hit the cork AND keep the cork sealed, you shouldn't need to) but I have no idea how the soft foot bed will affect repair or replaceability. My general guess is that it will wear out and need repair sooner. The redwood is a lovely color. I like it a lot because it's colorful enough to be interesting, but not so bright that it will clash or stick out.

Sizing. I'll be honest, they are full of *you know what* on sizing. Back in 1995, prior to having two kids, the smallest size I could find in the store (this was pretty much pre-internet, I could buy it at the store or not buy it at all, ordering was difficult as the shoes were made in germany) was a 36. Back then, I was told a 36 was about equivalent to a 6-6.5. I was a 5. I purchased them anyway and they were very big on me. I didn't care, I just wore big fat socks with them. Ok, well time went on, I had two kids and my feet got larger. I am now actually a size 6-6.5.

I love Birkenstock shoes and wear them almost every day. I need really good support, and I get that with Birkenstocks. This is my second pair of black Boston shoes, and I bought them here instead of the shoe store because the price was so much better. If you are new to these shoes, I recommend that you try them on in a shoe store first so you know your correct size. I do not have a narrow foot, but I buy the narrow in Birkenstock shoes - their narrow is like a regular in the USA. I don't know if the shoes will fit you if you have really narrow feet.

Accept no imitations, including Betula by Birkenstock. Nothing compares to these shoes, and they are well worth the price. Consider it an investment, because they will last for years. Despite what the other reviewer had to say, I consider them "in style" and predict they will remain so for years to come.

Even though the reply was prompt form the seller, These shoes (color) look nothing like what was ordered. Also, I tried to stop them form being shipped almost immediately as my husband changed his mind and I could not because THEY ARE FROM GERMANY and there was no mention of that in AMAZON. I am a prime customer and knew I was paying shipping but I also had to pay $30 to return the shoes when they did not fit. There should be a mention of this on the AMAZON site when you are receiving items internationally

Love birks, got these as have a tendon that need arch support. The only sad thing is that when I got these they were the last pair from the warehouse, so they had accumulated dust, and a layer that refused to clean off.

Being a pricy pair did not want to experiment, tried wet tissues etc, but dust remained, until got hold of a non greasy body lotion, rubbed down entire shoe with using cotton wool, then wiped off with cotton wool. Finally dust is gone, but color has darkened to chocolate brown.

I work in the kitchen and have tried just about conceivable method of footwear that's out there.
I keep coming back to Birkenstocks after a brief hiatus, it's always good to know they'll still be there . I have several pairs at home for indoor wear and a pair of Boston brown suede for casual wear.
I can't speak highly enough if these shoes and if you spend long hours on your feet or just crave slipping into something comfy at home then these shoes are for you.

I have had my birkenstock's for 3 years now and they are still going strong! I love them. The foot bed really does mold to your foot. I can see how these may not work for people that have low arches. I think my feet are pretty average and they are wonderful. They are my preferred walking shoe, my feet never get tired. They still have good traction after 3 years of heavy use. They are worth the money because they last.
