5.0 out of 5 stars Won't wear anything else
Any kind of birkenstock, they've got to be good. I won't lie- I have "Birkenstock feet", I've been wearing them for so long. I can wear them all day at work (standing up most of the day), and my feet feel great when I get home. Can't say that about a pair of heels!

3.0 out of 5 stars Elegant, but strap cut my foot
For the record, I love Birkenstock sandals, and am on my 6th pair. I currently have plantar fasciatis on one foot, and my Chaco sandals weren't helping. I had purchased a pair of the Birkenstock soft-bed Milanos earlier this spring, which seem to help my heel pain and are very comfortable, but they are not dressy. I was hoping the Granadas would be a more elegant option...

This review is from: Birkenstock Granada Sandal (Apparel)
For the record, I love Birkenstock sandals, and am on my 6th pair. I currently have plantar fasciatis on one foot, and my Chaco sandals weren't helping. I had purchased a pair of the Birkenstock soft-bed Milanos earlier this spring, which seem to help my heel pain and are very comfortable, but they are not dressy. I was hoping the Granadas would be a more elegant option.
Okay, full disclosure: I bought a pair of the black Grenada's at Famous Footwear, instead of Amazon (same price, but I could try them on and walk out with them at the store). I didn't pay attention when I tried them on at the store, but after wearing them for just a couple of hours, the tops of my feet hurt a lot-- a combination of feeling bruised and feeling scratched. I took them off to investigate and realized that the straps are not solid leather, but a thin layer of leather on top with a "soft" fabric touching the skin. I've never purchased Birks that didn't have solid leather straps, so I was surprised. Also, and I don't know if this was just the pair I had or all of the Granadas, but there are two staples at the top of the straps to hold on the buckles. I'm not sure if the scraping of my skin came from the fabric or the staples, but the straps did rub the skin off of the top of my feet (after just a couple of hours of walking and sitting). I took them back to FF and exchanged them for the only other Birkenstock's they had in stock, the Arizona's. These also had the thin strip of leather and then the fabric touching skin straps. So far, I have had no discomfort from the straps on the Arizona's, but they just aren't as pretty as the Granada's. Maybe I just have really high/protruding foot tops (is that a word/body part?), but the Granada's straps did not work for me. Still love Birkenstocks, though. If I could do it all over, I think I would have searched for another pair of more elegant Birkenstocks on Amazon with the soft footbed (so, so comfy) and paid the extra $$$ for the soft footbed and (I assume) full leather straps.
I guess I do have a question, do all Granada's have the straps that are not solid leather? Is there a way to know which styles have full-leather straps and which are the combo of materials?
