5.0 out of 5 stars Durability and Comfort
I purchased the Boston Clog in the summer of 2000, have worn it every year since then, and am happy to report that it is still the most comfortable shoe I possess. 2.0 out of 5 stars Inadequate Description -- Wrong Shoe Sent
I wanted Birkentstock Boston Black Shoes.
They came, but in SUADE
I would never have ordered suade.

Many times I find the Amazon product description inadequate.

I spend many hours trying to figure whether the description shows the product I want to order.

Now, looking, I did not see the same page as when I ordered...

5.0 out of 5 stars Durability and Comfort, February 10, 2007

I purchased the Boston Clog in the summer of 2000, have worn it every year since then, and am happy to report that it is still the most comfortable shoe I possess. Since many of the other reviews here have praised its comfort, I will briefly pass over a few of the problems that will probably occur over long-term wear.

First, after about a year of wear, the outsole began to detach itself from the rest of the clog. This was easily fixed with some shoe glue that I purchased at a shoe store. Since applying it in 2001 or so, I have not had any further problems with the outsole coming off.

Second, as mentioned in one review, the part of the outsole where your foot hits the ground most often will wear out fastest. This is to be expected. Nevertheless, after close to seven year's worth of wear, the outsole is still holding up quite well, the heel being the only place where there is no grip pattern left. Still, plenty of outsole remains.

Finally, about a year ago the leather lining of the footbed started to detach itself from the cork underneath the heel. Again, any good adhesive will solve the problem. This time I used super glue--problem solved.

Overall, the leather reflects seven year's worth of use, but it is still holding up very well, both on the footbed, and on the entire upper part. All things considered, I have worn a lot of shoes in the past seven years, many of them overpriced European brands fabled for comfort (Ecco, Camper, Clarks) but the Boston Clog has outlasted all of them in terms of durability and comfort. I highly recommend this quality shoe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Birkenstock Boston (Soft Sole) Clog, October 30, 2006
By
I recently bought these shoes and they are soooo comfortable! I got the ones with the soft sole and it makes a tremendous difference. From the first minute I put them on, it was like they became part of my foot! I don't even realize that I'm wearing them! No break-in required! It's also important to make sure you get the right size and establish whether you have a narrow or regular foot before you buy them.

Have always loved Birkenstocks, but to find the exact ones I was looking for for less $$ was great. The soft foot beds are the best! Received them quickly, another bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars they're the best, August 23, 2006
I just love Birkenstock Boston clogs. I've owned them in black leather, in dark gray suede, and in bright yellow suede. (The last of these turned some heads, but they were cool enough that--in a situation where some rough characters were afoot--nobody bothered me.) They are awesomely comfortable. My tour guide in Israel was stupefied by them when I demonstrated the following: flex your knee, raising your calf until parallel with the ground, keeping your foot perpendicular to the ground, and--even without having to clench your toes--the clog WILL NOT fall off. Eytan watched spellbound as I did this over and over. The secret? You'll notice that your foot gets slightly wider behind the metatarsal heads and then narrows again in both directions (phalangead AND calcad, as podiatrists might say). The Boston is so expertly crafted--and so balanced for an anatomically perfect foot--that the material will stretch just wide enough to admit those protuberant metatarsal heads, then spring back just tight enough to hold them in place. It was fun mesmerizing Eytan: he was so arrogant!

I have a bunion on my right foot, so a lot of shoes hurt my feet, especially when they are new and not broken in yet. But not these babies, they have actually been a lifesaver for me. I wear them all the time - they are better than slippers!

the Birkenstock Boston Clog, aubergine, is one of the most beautiful birkenstock shoe of the more than 30 pairs I have. I recommend this shoe to any one who wants beauty, comfort and value.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest shoes!, September 3, 2008
After a long time of refusing to purchase the real 'Birkenstock' brand as it was way too expensive, I finally gave in. These shoes are defiantly worth the money. They look a little 'simple' for $100 shoes with cork soles but the comfort is amazing.

I have high arches and this is the first pair of shoes that actually conforms to my foot. They support in every way and I can walk all day will virtually no foot and leg pain. The suede holds up amazingly well (and I like to drag my feet through rain and mud).

Shell out the bucks and you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest everyday shoe!, July 6, 2008

I have owned many shoes in my lifetime, and not one pair came even close to my birks. They are beyond comfortable, but they had to be thrown out due to wear and tear. I wore these shoes, literally, every week day for an entire school year. I went to a catholic school and we had to wear black shoes, and my feet are kind of big. Bostons came in my size and they are comfy, so I was sold. I am now becoming a teacher and my birks are long gone, but I am getting a second pair soon. I will wear my new birks every day until they wear out like my last ones did. What's great about the shoe is that it conforms to your feet, making them fit almost like slippers when they are worn out enough. If you think 130 dollars is a bit much for a shoe, then you are wrong here. They are worth it, every penny. I am a struggling college student and they are sooo worth the money. You will never want to wear another shoe as long as you live.

I found out about Birkenstock shoes while working many long hours on my feet. As an R.N., walking and standing for up to 16 hours isn't unusual, neither is very sore feet. Especially when you break your heel and have to have surgery to fix the break!!

My first pair of Birkenstock Boston white shoes, recommended by a fellow nurse, convinced me. Now, if I am wearing shoes, they are Birkenstocks - clogs, sandals, doesn't matter. My feet do not hurt. They are really well made, last a very long time and I think they are really pretty.

They ain't stilletos; but, my feet do not hurt - ever. If walking in comfort is important to you, these are the shoes for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST LOVE THESE!!!!, February 8, 2008

My new Boston Berk's in the steel color arrived today. I just love them! And the price was so affordable I could not believe it. I usually purchase my Birkenstock's(over 12 pairs) from QVC. But the price of this pair could not be beat anywhere. The steel suede color is perfect when wearing black / blue jeans. I have a very flat foot but the width of this pair(narrow) is perfect. I have noticed that at least with my flat foot, I can get away with a narrow width in the clog styles.

I am hoping to purchase more pairs of Birkenstock's from Amazon especially if I can find them at these reasonable prices.

If you have trouble with your feet, (mine are flat) or legs, hips(just had THR on both hips) or back.....TRY BIRKENSTOCK'S. Your body will thank you for it.
