I buy a new pair every few years. I pretty much live in them. My only complaint is that the footbed gets grimey after a while if you don't clean them regularly. I think I only have myself to blame though.

One note, the size chart on this page doesn't match the size chart on the manufacturer's site. The chart on this page looks wrong. I wear a 45 birk and a size 12 sneaker (US), not a size 14 like the chart on this page.

Milano is the best style of Birkenstock because it has the strap around the back of your heel, which is really useful when you are running away, which happens from time to time during the summer.

I have been wearing the Milano for about 18 years. I did need to replace them once during that time because they were just worn out. It was probably possible to get them repaired but I felt they paid their dues. When you first get them they will stain your socks, and the leather is hard, but once they get broke in they are the most comfortable shoe you will ever wear. I occasionally get foot pain from running or wearing cheep shoes during the week. I will wear my Birks for the weekend and all of my pain is gone by Monday. I highly recommend. I am in the military and am forced to wear combat boots to work, but if Birkenstock sold combat boots I would buy them too.

If your footbed gets dirty, you can use liquid laundry detergent and scrub with a stiff brush and they will look as good as new. You will be surprised by the dirt that washes off.

When Birkenstocks originally became popular, I hated them... but eventually this pair won me over. Now, I wear them every day... about February through November.

The back strap means these sandals are staying on - not flopping all over the place like most sandals. The leather is great quality. You can actually buy replacement soles (cork and all) at many shoe repair stores. I've replaces my soles 3-4 times and the leather is just as good as ever.

Great if you like arch support. However, the toe support area does take a little getting used to/breaking-in.

Overall a wonderful product.

Birkienstock is known for being comfortable since it's made with a material that molds around your feet.

They're stiff. They rub in wrong places.

I've had to invest in a few boxes of callous remover.

The Birkenstock Milano sandal came highly recommended. I doubt it will be worn very frequently for the following reasons: 1) very stiff, unyielding 2) heavy like an ankle weight 3)the very wide straps are hot and stiff 4) after 4 "wearings" it is no more comfortable than the first time worn 5) quite costly considering how little they will be worn
