5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish support!
This is my first pair of Birkenstocks. I have worm comfortable, supportive shoes for years (Dansko, Sanita) but developed plantar fasciitis after walking around in flimsy flip flops this summer. I have tried supportive flip-flops to wear (Okabashis, Moszkitos), but still had foot pain at the end of the day. I was a hold out to Birks since I thought they were way too...

5 1/2-6 is 36 for some sellers while 37 for others. My coworker bought the 37 from me. She's fallen twice with. Both times tripping off the left foot. She has not worn them since. Apparently the left sole is thicker then the right. I just ordered a pair of Sydney for myself and the same...

I was a hold out to Birks since I thought they were way too granola for me. After a particularly painful day, I went to buy a pair of Birks at the Walking Company. The salesman was very helpful and we tried several pairs. I knew I wanted something less "crunchy" than the Arizona or Florida styles so we started with the Gizeh style. I have a high arch, low volume foot and we could not get a good fit with the single buckle attached to the main strap. The Mayari was my next choice. I normally wear a size 39 in Sanita and need a 39 N in Dansko, but we sized down to 38 in the Birks. Since I have a relatively narrow foot we first tried the 38 N, but my 4th and 5th toes touched the toe bar at the end. The 38 M (which is really a wide in US sizes) gave my toes just the right amount of room. The straps are on the second to last notches, but I do not feel that the shoe is too wide.
I love the incredible firm arch support and the deep heel cup with wide toe box. My feet were so happy the first time I wore these. I was told to expect to have a few days of break in and to flex the toes firmly as soon as I took them out of the box. These are the only shoes I have worn since they arrived a week ago. No blisters, just a little sensitivity at the toe grab bar since my feet aren't used to that in my shoes. My PF pain has all but disappeared since I put these on. Amazing! The Crushed Berry Patent is more versatile than I even hoped for. It varies from an indigo blue to a deep purple depending on my outfit and the light. I traditionally wear only black or brown shoes, but these are not too crazy for my relatively conservative tastes. Fashionable, comfortable Birks. Love 'em!

Great price, arrived quickly, and perfect fit.
I've found that even though I wear a women's size 9 shoe, the EU size 40 fits best.
Shiny purple straps with Birkenstock footbed.

Apparently the left sole is thicker then the right. I just ordered a pair of Sydney for myself and the same problem. Left sole is slightly thicker than right. I staggered twice. I am not a newbie user. I have owned Granada for the past year and no issues at all. 3 stars for the overall product. Check them before you wear them!

I am sitting here wearing these very birkenstock sandals. The first part of this year I was homebound with a broken foot. My podiatrist had my foot in a cast, then the walking boot, for 4 months. I had two problems, Plantar Fasciitis and metatarsal stress syndrom(which is a broken metatarsal). My Dr. had special orthotics made for me and they helped some. I read up on Birkenstock shoes and realized my orthotics looked just like the shoe footbed of Birkenstock shoes. So I ordered this sandal and within a few days of wearing the sandals, my foots pain was fading away. I highly recommend Birkenstocks if you have PF.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes!, October 9, 2011

I have worn Burks for a while now and recently my patent ones died (after surviving a flood). These are a little more narrow than my old ones and were much more snug. I actually wound up making one extra hole in the straps to make them fit perfectly. I have big feet and so this happens all the time. I've been wearing them for about two weeks, constantly, and they have help up great. I'm in South Korea and they've held up against mountains, which are everywhere, and pavement. I would highly recommend.

They are a bit weird looking for someone who only wears tennis shoes but I am soo glad I got them. I gave them time so that I could "break them in," like recommended and now I wear them everyday. I can walk all day and my feet don't hurt. They are just as comfortable as my running shoes. I am an 8 1/2 and I ordered an 8.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfy, cute, reliable, July 8, 2011
To start off, I am a 17 year old girl--and my mother has worn Birkenstocks for years. She has plenty of pairs, and I used to look at them as weird or basically "not-cool".
However, last summer, I bought the Mayari sandal in stone for myself on a whim because we were passing by a Birk store and they were on sale. I now wear them often and am looking into another pair of Birkenstocks! I love the versatility of the sandals, I can wear them to the beach, shopping, walking the dogs, hiking, camping.. you name it!
You may be warned that my family and I could be labeled, as another reviewer said, "crunchy" or "granola", and my mother often wears her Birks with SmartWool socks (I'm not quite at that level yet!) but these shoes are great no matter what your style is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the look & feel, May 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Have other Birkenstocks and these were just as comfortable as any others I own. They were very cute and didn't look as bulky as many other styles. I did end up returning them because I ordered the onyx color, which I thought would be much more black, but they were actually more of a dark gray or dark pewter color. That was probably my error. Plan to reorder another pair when the black leather is in stock. The sizing was perfect...I usually wear a 39 and it fit perfectly. It's hard to wear any other shoes once your feet are used to Birkenstocks. My feet were very sore when I started wearing my first pair but once your feet adjust you it's difficult to wear anything else for a very long period of time.

I love these sandals. Typical Birki insoles keep me overpronating. Very cute color, although I would prefer patent leather to the patent flo because the color would be richer with leather. My foot doesn't slip at all w/ these sandals.
