5.0 out of 5 stars moody and reflective, July 17, 2001
This review is from: Birmingham Road (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after hearing "Ghosts in the Graveyard" on a sampler CD. That song alone makes this worth purchasing. Its a somber reflection on life's limits and reminds us of that first time we became aware that things don't last forever. I was delighted to discover another gem once I had all the songs on the BR CD. The song describing Noah, his struggle for hope against the risk of drowning is probably the best metaphoric communication of hope and doubt and faith that I have come across in several years. It is wonderful. Jeff is a significant talent. Not all the songs worked for me, but the ones that did made this CD a steal. This is an original voice with a depth to the lyrics that touches the experience of being human.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful piece of work, June 11, 2004

This album is simply spectacular. Driving songs like "That's Just About Right" and "Long Way to Go" will energize and excite you, while ballads like "Carnival Song" and "The Valley" will haunt you and pull you into Jeff Black's poetic landscape, and you won't want to leave. This is a singer/songwriter of amazing talent, and he deserves to be heard by everyone. If you like introspective, moving, melodic songs that inspire, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of a kind, May 11, 1999

Its great to hear a 50 minute cd from an artist that actually has 50 minutes of material. Much more than just a great song writer Jeff Black's performance is beyond reproach. End to end this is a beautiful, thought provoking work. Something tells me he has just as much material un recorded and the next time out he will be the one we hear playing his songs on the radio.
