This review is from: Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2011 (Paperback)
I really like Birnbaums guide. It will tell you all the good at WDW but not so much about the bad or even the ugly. For that kind of impartial and unbiased information I recommend The Unoffcial Guide to Walt Disney World. Birbaums is great for first time visitors but veterans will already have a good handle on the information provided. I like the way the information is presented and organized, the book does a good job of giving a thorough overview of what Walt Disney World is and all that it encompasses. This guide can help a first timer or even a return visitor decide on what they would like to do and see. Birnbaums will provide all the magic for your trip but for a good dose of reality one should purchase an Unoffcial Guide to accompany this book.

DON'T GO TO WDW WITHOUT FIRST READING THIS. UNBELIEVABLE NUMBER OF HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS. YOU'LL KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AT WDW. What a great organized book. I highly recommend it to all visitors and a " must buy " for first timers.

I have relied on Birnbaum for years, they are the best at covering Disney and strategy to get the most from your visit. However for Orlando in general Fodor's is more comprehensive. If your are only going to Disney and are staying on a Disney property get the Birnbaum. If you are staying off property and doing things other than the Disney parks, get Fodors. Both books should be available in your library, see which you like best before you buy.

Great Guide Book,

I have been buying this guide for a number of years. It is easy to read and easy to understand. There are no hard to read descriptions or charts. This is just a clear and easy read. I have used this book to keep up on the changes at Disney World and I have taken it to the parks to use on a daily basis. I would recommend it for anyone from the person planning their first trip to the experienced Disney World traveler who is looking for a quick reference. There may be other guides that do some parts of this guide better, but this is a great all-around guide that will help you enjoy your time in the World.

I highly recommend this book if you're going to WDW. Not only is it very informative, it's also easy to read and has some decent pictures. I enjoy reading this book even if I'm not planning a Disney vacation!

A great tool for your Disney vacation planning.,

I own the 2010 edition of the guide and it was of great help when planning last years vacation. I got the 2011 edition mostlyto see the difference between las years and this years. I was gladly surprised to see that this years edition is very updated. Of course a lot of the information is basically the same as the previous edition like the that of "When to go", "How to get there", "Planning ahead", and "Money saving tips", but you can tell that the people at Birnbaum didn't just copy the text on to the 2011 guide. Now, the information about the parks and attractions is very good and up to date, for example, in the Magic Kingdom chapter they talk about the Fantasyland expansion that is in construction where Mickey's Toontown Fair use to be. The guide gives very interesting facts and tips about the parks, hotels and basically everything in the Walt Disney World Resort, useful to first time visitors and for those who have been there before. Keep in mind that this guide is about the Walt Disney World Resort and as it's to be expected the information in it MIGHT SEEM bias but the guide also talks about other options in topics like hotels and transportation, but it DOESN'T GO INTO DETAIL.
As a final note, if you have children and want to get them involved in planning your Disney vacation I highly recommend Birnbaum's guide for kids, I bought it as well and my kid loves it, he's been reading it and pointing out stuff to do when we get there. I'll post a full review on it soon.

This book allows you to pick & choose BEFORE you get to the park. Having talked to several DisneyWorld veterans, I find that without the book, their trip (however long or brief) was a trial & error experience. As family of 8, ages ranging from 68 to 6 yrs., this book is an asset & will assure us of a wonderful, satisfying trip. Planning to spend 6 days at Animal Kingdom
Resort. Liked the Burnbaum's Best tags. As it is our 1st trip to DW, we will be taking in the B's Best, first. May save others for another trip. So glad we bought this. A valuable asset & a bargain to say the least. Loved the pictures, too!!!

This a great guide to DisneyWorld. We are planning our first trip and this is great at helping to show us what to do, what not to miss, how to schedule our time, places to visit, places to eat.
Great tips too, on anything and everything! Highly recommended.

great planning guide,

Walt Disney World is a big place, a little intimidating...and I bought the Birnbuam guide, AFTER my first trip there, but before my second...great tips, things you'd never find out, puts the parks and planning to see the most (or the least) in perspective.....(I believe 1 line in a previous years addition started out "Walt Disney World is roughly the size of San Francisco, and there is just as much, if not more to see and do")....
I haven't been to Disney since 2001, but this is a must purchase....BEFORE you book your trip...Disney is just too big, there is too much, and this really gives you the insight to be able to pick and choose and plan your time there to the fullest...I figure it this way, for my family Disney is a few times in a lifetime, not an annual event...so why not make the most of your time and money? (some things do require reservations, which are not always easy to get once you are there...some things like special brunches, shows, etc fill up fast, all the dining options at Epcot, park hours, early admissions, obscure things most wouldn't even think about, etc. etc. etc).
