Time To Fly: Birth. Work. Death, September 9, 2002
By A Customer
"First time I started listening to this album I wasn't impressed. Once I got to the second active listen through (yeah, the first one was half-hearted), I could hear something different than the first time I played it. I'm addicted to this CD and you know nothing terribly good comes of that in the long run. Yet I have a feeling this CD will be in my rotation for a while. The songs are of a generous length, all between 3 and 4.5 minutes. My favorite part of Birth. Work. Death. is the trilogy of songs by the same name that basically breaks down life into these three parts. It's not the literal birth, work and death, though. Their social commentary on the "birth" of recognizing problems in the way one lives, the "work" that goes into examining and reexamining that lifestyle and the "death" that ultimately leads to a more fulfilling way to live. These three songs easily could have been kept as one song, it would still be only slightly longer than the longest song on the album. Musically, Death feels most demanding and emotionally stressing (in the best way possible). The vocals feel perfectly placed with the music and completely nonstressed. Harmonies are tight, as in they too are natural. I feel the lead guitar makes this album and band stand out most, not because it's anything amazing (which it really isn't) and it doesn't help create a completely unique sound, it just gives Time to Fly the added push towards infectious and "stuck in my head all day" that I seem to enjoy so much. Like, this review is over but it's on one of my favorite songs so now I have to wait to start another review. Definitely a best pick of the year so far."Kristin Shafranske Sound-Riot.com

Amazing Album, January 23, 2007
I knew these guys when I was in High School. I will still sit down and listen to this album a multitude of times a year. They stay there because if you listen to the album, no one song is unrelated to another. They run in triads, duos, and ridiculously awesome sets. It sounds like it is a concert constantly building and crumbling under it's own weight but then lifting itself up each time it is reborn to a new, and higher height.
A truly excellent album from the NorthWest.
