Gr 3-5-- Published in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Little League baseball, this book gives a concise overview of the history and present organization of Little League. The important areas related to the subject are briefly, yet adequately, covered. Chapters include a visit to the Little League headquarters and museum and an overview of some of the rules and equipment. Surprisingly, the book's dullest chapter deals with the major league players who got their start in Little League. There's nothing in this chapter except a few bland quotes. The book is liberally illustrated with black-and-white and color photos of Little Leaguers in action. Diagrams showing the proper dimensions for the Little League field and batter's boxes are somewhat confusing. The index is adequate, and there is no list of sources. In all, this is a simple and straightforward account of Little League that should prove popular. --Todd Morning, Schaumburg Township Public Library, Ill.
