Biscuit Gets Distracted,
By
This review is from: Biscuit's New Trick (My First I Can Read) (Paperback)
In this book, The Girl With The Purple Sneakers wants to teach Biscuit how to fetch a ball. But learning is not always easy when the world is filled with fascinating things like bones and cats. But once Biscuit is ready to learn even a big mud puddle won't stand in his way.A good book that shows it is easy to be distracted and that obstacles can be overcome. Told in the wonderful "Biscuit" style and with adorable illustrations.

This is a terrific new Biscuit book. My 7 year old daughter can read it with no problem. It is almost too easy for her. It is a wonderful book for the very beginning readers. My daughter and I enjoy the humor of Biscuit not wanting to listen and doing eveything except what he is told. Sounds just like a puppy! All kids who like dogs will enjoy this book!

MORE THAN ONE LESSON TO BE LEARNED IN THIS ONE.,
This review is from: Biscuit's New Trick (My First I Can Read) (Paperback)
This Biscuit series is a wonderful little group of books which are indeed easy readers and are ideal to start a child out. The wording is simple, yet at the same time just challenging enough to keep the child interested in continuing and learning.
In this little book Biscuit is learning a new trick; fetching a ball and the author has nailed the process of accomplishing this with a little puppy perfectly. I am in full agreement with another reviewer here that noted that the little girl who is training the little puppy is doing everything correctly. She is repetitive in her task, praises Biscuit at the appropriate times and gently corrects him when he makes an error or is distracted. This is how a puppy should be taught. (You could say the same thing about kids...come to think of it.) Not only are we receiving a good reading lesion, but also a good lesson on how to train and interact with the family pet. The art work here by Pat Schories is very well executed as is her trademark; the pictures are cute, colorful, natural looking and full of action. They go perfectly with the text. A sampling of the text: "Fetch the ball, Biscuit. Woof, woof! Silly puppy! Don't roll over now. Get the ball, Biscuit." This is a wonderful little book; one of several in the series. This book and the rest should be on your child's book shelf. Don Blankenship The Ozarks
