When I began studying for the CPA, I was only using Becker to help me study. I thought that Becker did a fantastic job of presenting the information in a way that was understandable and easy to read, but I also felt that Becker did not offer enough practice questions and simulations at the end of the chapter. I heard that Bisk has a fairly vast amount of questions at the end of each chapter, and decided to try it out. I am glad that I did, and I feel that together, Becker and Bisk prepared me for all of the challenges of the auditing portion of the CPA exam.

Why I like Bisk's multiple choice questions/ simulations:

1. There are many of them. Becker and Wiley only have 20-30 questions at the end of each chapter. Bisk has 30-190 questions per chapter, depending on how heavily that chapter is tested on the CPA exam. Chapters that are more heavily tested have more questions. Bisk also has up about 4-9 simulations per chapter. I don't recall Becker having any in its textbook.

2. The questions are not sugar-coated or overly-easy. Bisk chooses some rather difficult questions. The advantage of this is that it really tests whether or not you really understand the material, down to the very minute detail. It's better to find out your weak areas now, while you are studying and have time to learn those areas you are fuzzy on.

3. Bisk offers detailed explanations of the answers. When Bisk gives the answers to question, it goes into fairly heavy detail as to why the correct answer is what it is. Bisk also explains why each of the other answers is incorrect. I used to hate auditing multiple choice questions because I often felt like 2 or 3 answers could be correct.

I read a lot of pros and cons about different CPA review materials. Finally, I decided to get Bisk CPA Review Textbook as one of my review materials. It's been a month since I bought this book and I find it good enough. The only thing I don't like is that Bisk did not give me my free software as indicated in the cover page of the book. They said that the U.S. Postal Service is not sending to our place. I don't believe them because this is a U.S. Territory. But it's fine because I already ordered Wiley CPA Review Test Bank for the software. I have a feeling that the combination of Bisk Textbooks and Wiley's software are the best review materials. Good enough and no need to spend thousands of dollars. :)
