Big time saver, September 3, 2003
This review is from: Bissell 3107B Catch-All Vac (Kitchen)
This is a great device. I was unsure whether to get the Catch-all or the Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac w/ swiffer.. so I bought them both and put them to the test. The Catch-All was the clear winner and my opinion was seconded by my girlfriend in her own unbiased test. The Catch-All's soft rotating brush allowed it to pick up small particles (crumbs and such) while the Sweeper Vac failed to suck them up and resulted in the swiffer pad pushing them around. The seperate battery pack makes the CatchAll much easier to recharge and store and it makes less noise than the SweeperVac. The CatchAll is great for quick daily passes of the high traffic tile in my house and it still amazes me how much pet hair it grabs up in my everyday use. I've tried tons of floor care products and this one has won me over. I returned the Dirt Devil the next day and bought the Bissell Steam Mop which I also found to be a fantastic addition to the CatchAll.

Not as good as I'd hoped, April 13, 2004
This review is from: Bissell 3107B Catch-All Vac (Kitchen)
After reading other's reviews, I was excited to try this handy sweeper out. The concept is a great one and would seem to take most of the work of sweeping your bare floors. I was disappointed for a few reasons:
1. The vaccuum doesn't seem to be nearly powerful enough. The baby always has a lot of crumbs under her chair, and the kids have crumbs under their stools. When I've tried the catch all, I've had to go over it so many times that it really is easier just to use a small broom with the dustpan that has a tall handle on it.
2. The front of the vacuum seems like it should be a bit higher to be able to catch bigger crumbs. If there are many crumbs, I have to lift the vacuum head up and over the crumbs to be able to suction them.
3. It doesn't seem to get the floor clean enough to be mop ready. If I'm going to mop, I feel like I have to use the broom or there will be random crumbs all over.
4. The battery doesn't sit tight in the slot and so when I run the catch-all, the connection keeps on missing so the vacuum turns off. So I have to keep tapping the battery back to get the vacuum going again. This is really irritating to have the vacuum keep going on and off! (After tapping the battery 5 or 6 times, it does seem to stay in and I can finish vacuuming after that.)
Although it was not nearly as good as I'd hoped, I will probably still keep it around for quick sweeps when I don't feel like putting in the extra effort of sweeping to get a completely clean floor or the baby hasn't dumped a ton of crumbs on the floor so I have to use a broom. Now if you're pregnant, I can really see this being a great help (it will minimize the amount you have to bend over!)

Unbelievable, September 3, 2004
This review is from: Bissell 3107B Catch-All Vac (Kitchen)
I've been looking for a stick broom to replace my regular broom and dust mop. I have gone through many different kinds of stick brooms and have been unsatisfied with all of them. They either didn't pick up much, or the intake would get clogged or whatever.
I had heard about the Swiffer Vac and thought I'd come here to check out opinions on it. So many seemed unfavorable, and I came across a few opinions that suggested the Catch-All from Bissell was much better.
I went ahead and ordered this vac from Amazon and it's just awesome. For something that looks like a toy (my kids think it is!!), it picks up everything. I have tile in my entry, hall and kitchen/dining areas and this even got the little crumbs out of the grout lines, that's how strong that little battery operated suction is. It's also much more quiet than any other stick vac I've used.
I put it to the test last week when, before I mopped, I decided to check it against a regular broom/dustpan. I used the Catch-All first, and when I was done I used my regular broom to see what the Catch All might have missed. NOTHING!! I am truely impressed!
The ONLY thing I can think of negative to say about it is it won't sweep my baseboards like I could do with a broom. But that's fine by me. When I do my detailed cleaning, I'll pull out the broom for the baseboards, but otherwise, I'll never use a broom or another stick vac again!!
The battery has never run out on me. And some people claim the dirt cup is too small. I've never had that problem, maybe because I do it every day (with 3 kids and a hubby, and a dog, I have to!) It's very light weight, my 3 year old loves to use it too! And I like that I can use any kind of cloth (swiffer, pledge, generic), I'm sure even a dishcloth sprayed with an electrostatic spray would even work.
What a brilliant idea. I wish I came up with it!
